Czech Employees Working Abroad and Their Knowledge of the German Language

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to assess the German language skills of Czech citizens who have or used to have experience in working in a German speaking country. The bachelor thesis focuses on the method of learning German, how important it was to learn the German language at a primary and secondary school, if these people had attended any language courses and how much they need the German language for their job. The introduction of the theoretical part of the thesis contains information about the number of Czech people living and working abroad, the countries they work the most and about the most common jobs they do. The empirical part of the bachelor thesis is formed by a questionnaire which is focused on abovementioned issues regarding the language skills of the Czech people working abroad. The conclusion of the thesis is the evaluation of the abovementioned questionnaire and the delimitation of the areas of interest for the development of the vocabulary and their comparison with up-to-date coursebooks. There are also topics that are important for getting a job in the German speaking countries.
Use of drama activities and role play in Maturita Solutions - Intermediate

This master thesis deals with interconnection of language teaching and drama. It presents a set of supplementary drama activities to the textbook Maturita Solutions-Intermediate. The concern is the use of drama activities in second language teaching at secondary school; for this purpose the set of drama activities and role-plays was carried out in several classes at two secondary schools in Prague. The theoretical part presents the methods, which emphasize the importance of communicative abilities, and provides a background to the idea that drama is one of the ways of teaching a second language. The practical part introduces the created activities and their pilotage at schools and the work is concluded with a feedback from the students and the teachers who participated. The author of the thesis encloses all the supplementary activities, which can be found in the appendix. Key words: communication, drama in education, techniques, coursebook, role-play
