Activities of the Ethnographic Committee of the Czech Academy of Arts and Sciences under Nazi occupation and its contribution towards the development of the field
Motyčková, Dana ; Sedlická, Kateřina
The Ethnographic Committee operated in 1941–1946 to make use of a special state subsidy for Czech vernacular culture threatened by Nazi Germany. It worked with and financed top Czech scientific and museum institutions. It supported collection work by individuals and creation of some ethnographic works. It organised surveys of vernacular architecture in the Protectorate. It acquired some 10,000 images which form the basis of the photo archive of the present-day Ethnographic Institute in Prague
