The Contribution of Coaching to Adult Learning

The thesis deals with the issue of coaching in the context of adult learning. The aim of the thesis is to identify the potential benefits of coaching sessions with a professional coach for the learning of the coaching client in the form of changes in their personal and social competences. Attention is paid to the introduction of the theoretical framework of coaching and its main principles. The thesis further discusses the characteristics of the coach and the coachee as participants in the coaching process and their relationship; subsequently, attention is focused on the phenomenon of learning with a specific focus on adult learning. The text also discusses coaching in the context of adult learning and deals with key ideas and principles of selected adult learning theories relevant to both the practice and theoretical basis of coaching. This thesis includes a qualitative research survey aimed at clarifying the benefits of client participation in individual coaching for their learning from the perspective of coachees and coaches from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, specifically involving coaches accredited by ICF, EMCC or SAKo and clients who have received coaching with a professional coach accredited by one of these organisations.
