Cross-border cooperation between Czech Rebulic and Slovakia during 2007-2013 programming period 2007-2013
Vašák, Viktor ; Khendriche Trhlínová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Kouřilová, Jana (referee)
As the time goes by, one former Czech-Slovak territory has separated, forming two independent republics and members of European union. Division of common territory by a border, however, cannot affect cultural and linguistic proximity, which can be clearly identified in cross-border regions. The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the cooperation amongst six regions located near mutual border during 2007-2013 period. By the means of publicly available content, an analysis of allocation of financial resources from ERDF and national budgets is executed. The qualitative evaluation of cross-border cooperation projects is delivered by the proposal of matrix for territorial impact assessment. According to percentual fulfillment of given goals, impact on barrier effect reduction and selected projects analysis, the overall added value of cross-border cooperation between Czech and Slovak republic during 2007-2013 period is specified. Main findings are then a result of combination of qualitative analysis and quantitative indicators for the researched period.
Historical development of selected municipalities in border areas
SLÁDEK, Ondřej
The main goal of the bachelor's thesis is to compare the changes of cadastral territory Dobrá Voda. As a comparison, a map dated from 1826 and a current map is used. The bachelor's thesis is handled as a literature research. A border region is an area situated along the border with a neighboring state and includes also the border region of the neighboring state. In Dobra Voda region since 1826, an extension of woods increased from 51,25% to 69,16%, which is almost an 18% increase. On the contrary, grassland area decreased from 27.48% to 20,37%, so by 7,11%. A complete cancellation of fertile land occured as well. This land formed 14.59% of the area in 1826. A part of former fertile land is now marked as infertile land, that takes 5,08% of the area, In 1826, it was only 0,16%. A cancellation of agriculture also probably caused a decline of constructions. This can be explained by the fact that some constructions were used as barns and grain granaries, which gradually disappeared. A number of roads also decreased, because a big part of the roads were unpaved roads, which gradually disappeared as well. Another change was a construction of water area. As for the reason of its existence, there is no information available.
The main factors that influenced the Turkish-Armenian relations
Volochová, Lucia ; Volenec, Otakar (advisor) ; Kochan, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with two factors that worsened the relations between Turkey and Armenia. The aim of this work is their analysis. The first serious factor is the events from the times of WWI committed by the Ottoman Empire on the Armenian population, known as the Armenian genocide, which Turkey denies almost one hundred years. Armenians demand an official recognition of genocide from Turkey. The second issue is the border between Turkey and Armenia which was closed in response to the Armenian aggression on the territory of Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. Although the war ended, no peace treaty has been ratified ever since. Despite the fact that there has been some development based on an effort to improve relations of the mentioned countries, their relations are still at the freezing point and there is no indication of obvious changes for the better.

Řezníková, Lenka
The study deals with the concept of the Czech-German "borderland" as a spatial, mental ad social figure participing in the construction of the ethnic (national and cultural) differences and of otherness in general. Interpreting 19th and 20th century Czech literary texts, it shows the main transformations of this concept, from the idea of language frontier (dominating in the 19th century) to representation of the border territory (in the 20th century) Underscoring the cultural and historical conditionality of the frontier as a social institution, and the influence of cartography for its socialization, the study focuses on the spatial and semiotic consequences of these transformations.
The cross-border community on the Czech-German border
Zich, František
We focus on the territorial community delimited by the border with the Federal Republic of Germany. For the purposes of this work, this territory has been defined as the whole area of the districts that border with Germany at least partially. There is no doubt the area, which lies along the almost 1000 km long border, is considerably differential. The differences result especially from economic and thus also social factors , apart from that, however, the whole territory is also significantly differential in terms of geography.
