In-situ characterization of semiconductors using scanning probe microscopy techniques
Očkovič, Adam ; Pléha, David (referee) ; Pavera, Michal (advisor)
The thesis focuses on the analysis of semiconductor components using scanning probe microscopy. In the first part, crystalline substances are classified according to their electrical properties. Then, the theory of intrinsic and extrinsic semiconductors, PN transitions and finally the basic types and functions of transistors are introduced. In the second section, SPM techniques and their principles of operation are presented, which are suitable for failure analysis of semiconductor devices. The third chapter introduces the measurement setup, which consists of a scanning electron microscope MIRA and a scanning probe microscope LiteScope, which uses self-sensing probes. In the fourth chapter, the semiconductor samples analyzed were tungsten plugs in a cross-section of CMOS chip, a cross-section of bipolar transistor, and a lamella of unipolar MOSFET transistor. Analysis of these samples was performed using AFM, CAFM, EFM, KPFM and SSRM techniques in the last chapter. For each technique and sample, an analysis of the measured data was performed. Together with the techniques, the basic limitations and interesting outputs for failure analysis were presented.
Matrix headphone amplifier for studio monitoring
Štěrba, Václav ; Petržela, Jiří (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis describes the design of a matrix headphone amplifier for studio monitoring. The proposed amplifier is a purpose-built device to be used in studio sound recording for the mixing of multiple audio channels directed to the interpreters´or performers´ headsets. The device is basically composed of the following parts: An input section for the audio line, a mixing section which secures the setting of individual input levels for each output, an amplifier section allowing the setting of the output signal level for each output, and an output section enabling the connection of headphones. The equipment utilizes a connection to a multi-channel audio signal bus; this bus also provides for remote power supply to all the connected devices. The solution described in the thesis can be defined as alternative monitoring that facilitates quick and easy connection of a required number of monitoring points (in other cases, such monitoring is usually realized by means of individual small mixing consoles).
Class AB audio amplifier for two satellites and subwoofer
Cupák, Jan ; Brančík, Lubomír (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with design of AB class audio amplifiers. Further more it deals also with other functional blocks, e.g. preamplifier, tone equalizer and active crossover. Outcome of this work is a complete solution of the amplifier with it's simulation. In final solution is also included scheme of a high quality power supply unit, speaker protection and heat sinks for high performance transistors. In this project is also included a solution of task about optimal mechanical arrangement of the single parts in the case of this amplifier. This thesis contains results of measurement and photo document of functional prototype.
Current sources and active load in bipolar technology
Janík, Pavel ; Recman, Milan (referee) ; Horák, Michal (advisor)
Current sources with bipolar transistors and their application as active load of amplifiers.
System for computer measurement of transistor characteristics
Krásl, Martin ; Šotner, Roman (referee) ; Brančík, Lubomír (advisor)
This thesis is focused on methods of measuring the characteristics of transistors in three basic connections. There is an example of the characteristic obtained from the simulator for each of the connections. Differential parameters are obtained from the resulting characteristics. These parameters describe a linearized equivalent circuit diagram of the transistor. To automate the process of obtaining characteristics, the next step of this work is the design and construction of the analyzer. The function of individual parts of the hardware is described in detail in the individual chapters. A computer application was created to control the analyzer. This application serves as the user interface. The conclusion of this thesis is a guide for a demonstration laboratory task.
Differential amplifiers with bipolar transistors
Vyroubal, Petr ; Boušek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Horák, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the theory of differential amplifiers with bipolar transistors, an overview of the basic connections and inspection their properties with the help of computer simulation program OrCAD PSpice. The specific type of differential amplifier is carried out experimental measurements, which perform as verification of simulated properties. The aim of this work is to analyze and compare the results obtained using the simulation program and the results obtained by laboratory measurements.
