Ventilation Support of Laboratory Animals

The introductory chapters of this thesis are focus on a teoretical familiarization with the complex issue with artificial lung ventilation. In additional to the history of artificial lung ventilation, chapters included familiarization with anatomy and physiology of lungs, associated with this defined volume of lungs and itself pulmonary ventilation. In the practical part I deal with design of ventilator for used it on laboratory animals.
Artificial lung ventilation for neonates

The bachelor thesis deals with optimization of artificial lung ventilation (CPAP) aiming to achieve higher efficiency in use with neonates at neonatal intensive care unit. The content of the thesis is divided into three parts. The first part describes the basic principle of the mechanical ventilation operation, lung parenchymal disease, respiratory care of neonates and patient interface devices. The second part of the thesis focuses on research, which is divided into chapters describing calculation of pressure loss and the experiment itself. The last part outlines a comparison and evaluation of individual interface devices and recommendation of effective practical use.
High flow nasal oxygen therapy as an alternative to mechanical ventilation in COVID+ patients in intensive care

During this pandemic, high-flow nasal oxygen therapy (High- flow) emerged as a possible alternative to artificial lung ventilation in Covid-positive patients. The thesis addresses the issues related to the high-flow device, the experiences of nurses with it, and whether it can be an alternative to artificial lung ventilation for Covid-positive patients in intensive care. The theoretical part characterizes topics such as oxygen therapy, artificial lung ventilation, high-flow, Covid-19, treatment of respiratory disease, and the Hacor score. The empirical part is based on two conducted quantitative studies. Nursing procedures at complicated peritonitis

(v AJ) For my diploma thesis I chose Nursing care for patients with complicated peritonitis as a topic, because care for these patients must be complex and often requires long-term stay at the anesthesiology and resuscitation department. These patients require organ support, undergo repeated surgical revisions, and ultimately, if they overcome this critical period, they learn very often self- care, walking, and sometimes adapt to permanent changes in health. It is a disease where there are often sudden changes in the patient's condition. In the theoretical part I tried to describe the disease leading to the development of peritonitis and complications in the form of septic shock and multiorgan failure. In the National Medical Library, I have searched for a comprehensive review of literature since 2005. I searched for keywords and phrases: Peritonitis, Nursing Care, Sepsis, Multiorgan Failure, Circulatory Support, Artificial Pulmonary Ventilation, Continuous Function Replacement kidney care, laparotomy care, drainage care, intra-abdominal hypertension. Prevention of Complications in Patients with Secured Airways

The thesis reviews airway management practices in intubated a tracheostomised patients. Patients requiring mechanical ventilation have their airways secured mostly by endotracheal or tracheostomy tubes. Such patients are in a great risk of developing serious complications. One of the most common is the ventilator-acquired pneumonia (VAP). Currently, VAP represents a major problem not only in the Czech Republic but globally. In the USA, VAP is the most common nosocomial infection and represents 25% of all ICU infections. VAP complications lead to deterioration of the patients' condition, extend the total duration of hospitalization and some present a mortality risk. The VAP mortality rate has been reported to be 20-50%. Moreover, VAP complications lead to an increase in health care costs. The goal of the thesis is the comparison of the state of the art scientific knowledge, clinical guidelines and current clinical practices. The thesis describes the practice in the highly specific nursing aktivity - airway management, using case studies. My research took place at ARO (ICU - intensive care unit). The first case study involves an intubated patient, the second one a patient with the tracheostomy tube.
