Giovanni Manzuoli and his vocal profile of the 1760s

The bachelor thesis deals with the personality of Giovanni Manzuoli (1720-1782), the singing castrato. The thesis summarises the present knowledge and reconstructs his singing career on the basis of his known opera performances. The text focuses on the last decade of Manzuoli's artistic career which offers the richest source base for interpretation, including commentaries about performances and records of the amount of the honorarium. The fundamental part of the thesis is a repertoire analysis which had been composed bespoke for Manzuoli. Selected arias from 1760s are analysed mainly through the prism of singing technique and interpretation of that time. The result of this analysis is an outline of Manzuoli's vocal profile.
