Development of adult education at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries

The aim of the thesis is to analyze from the cultural and historical point of view the period from 1848 to 1900, including 1918. Further, to identify and characterize the key determinants that influenced the origin and development of adult education and education in the Central European space (national emancipation movement, formation of physical education, interest-cultural and professional associations and organizations, technological and economic progress, railway development, health organizations). These social drivers of progress and development have led to the emergence, for example, of education, folk and university extensions, and the further institutionalization of adult education. These categories have become the basis of today's conceptualization of adult education and differentiation (interest, civic, political and vocational education).
