Application paramedic in a medical facility
ŠTĚPÁNEK, Marek
The title of the presented bachelor's thesis is: The application of paramedics in a medical facility. The theoretical part focuses on the possible employment of paramedics, i.e. in pre-medical and medical care. It then deals with the education, competences and lifelong learning of paramedics and nurses together with a mention of their motivation. The practical part employs the qualitative method of research. Data collection was carried out by means of a semi-structured interview. The researched group consists of 10 paramedic graduates from selected hospitals. The interviews were focused on the motivation for entering the medical facility, the possibility of their employment and what problems they face upon arrival. The aim of this study was to ascertain what problems the newly-employed paramedics encounter, and how they can be utilized in the facilities. Another goal was to find out what motivated them to start working in a medical facility. It was discovered that the main motivation was the lack of job vacancies or it concerned less specialised paramedic services care. It emerged that the difficulty with the employment of paramedics is the preference of licensed practical nurses with a specialisation, even though a paramedic possesses more competences. However, this is understandable because of the greater versatility of nurses. Nevertheless, the paramedics concurred that, after their integration, the situation on their wards met with their expectations. The main problem, which this study attempts to point out, is connected with the lack of job vacancies in EMS. This was the reason for many paramedics to start working in a medical facility instead of EMS, just to find a job position.
The work of the sisters in the emergency medical department with the technique- preparation of educational material for nurses.
KOLÁŘOVÁ, Markéta
This dissertation deals with equipment handling problems of nurses on the Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation Department and training of new nurses for equipment handling. New nurses are therefore overloaded with lots of new information concerning nursing care, documentation, instruments, team etc. This dissertation consists of two parts ? theoretical and empirical one. The theoretical part deals with ARD description, monitoring, technical equipment, work of nurse on ARD and her adaptation process. The empirical part used a qualitative research method. Information was gathered from a semi-structured interview. The current state in context of nurse work with technical equipment on ARD was analysed in the first period of research. Tutorial material was created on the basis of gathered information which was applied in practice. Feedback on created tutorial material was found in the last period. The focus group was created by 10 respondents who work as general nurses on ARD in selected hospitals. Four goals and five research questions were stated during the investigation. The first goal was to map what technical equipment nurses on ARD are working with; the second goal was to find out how the training of new nurses on ARD is carried out; the third goal was to create training material concerning technology, not only for new nurses on ARD; and the fourth goal was to find out feedback on provided tutorial material from nurses on ARD. Research questions were: 1.What technical equipment do nurses operate on ARD? 2. How are new nurses on ARD trained? 3. What means are used during the training of new nurses? 4. According to nurses, what information regarding technology should a handbook for nurses on ARD contain? 5. What opinion do nurses on ARD have of created training material? The first goal was to map what technical equipment nurses on ARD are working with. From research results it is evident that nurses on ARD operate lots of equipment ? monitors, infusion pumps, linear pumps, ventilators, dialysis, suction bottles, defibrillators, laminar boxes, ICP monitors, patient lifters, medical heaters and coolers, nebulizers, plasmaferesis, PICCO, LIDCO, Vigileo, enternal pumps, anti-decubitus mattresses, anaesthetic equipment, EKG, haemoglobinmeters, glucometers, ABR analyser, bronchoscopes and Level. The second goal was to find out how the training of new nurses on ARD is carried out. Research results are different in this area. Every respondent undertook a different form of adaptation process in variously long intervals. The third goal was to create training material concerning technology not only for new nurses on ARD. Training material was created on the basis of discussion analysis with respondents and didactic principles had been kept during its creation (visualisation, connection theory with practise, scientism, adequacy, actuality, feedback, consciousness and activity, individualization and orderliness). The fourth goal was to find out feedback on provided tutorial material from nurses on ARD. Training material was given to all respondents for approximately 14 days and afterwards feedback was obtained. The result was that all respondents liked the training material very much. Research results will be provided to head nurses on ARD from chosen hospitals where the research was carried out. The created training material will be provided to ARD in hospital Pelhrimov, p. o. Specific training material for individual workplaces and equipment will be created for other hospitals on the basis of declared wishes of respondents. We anticipate that the training material will not only be beneficial for new nurses on ARD.
The monitoring of physiological functions at Anesteziology and Intensive Care and Intensive care unit - the preparation of materials for incoming nurses
KOPECKÁ, Nina
The thesis was elaborated on the topic: FF Monitoring at ARD and ICU ? preparation of materials for newly hired nurses? The first part of the thesis introduces the ARD history and concept. It describes competences of nurses, specifics of their work, physical and psychical demands for nurses working at intensive care units. The subsequent chapters analyze not only how acceptance of newly hired nurses to ARD should be conducted, but they also deal with the complete issue of FF monitoring at ARD. The second part deals with the set goals of the thesis and related research questions. There are three goals: 1: To map the available study materials related to FF monitoring for newly hired ARD nurses. 2: To find out what FF monitoring educational materials ARD nurses would like to have available for newly hired nurses. 3: To test newly elaborated educational material related to FF monitoring at ADR in practice. And there are four reseach questions to them: 1: What educational material related to FF monitoring at ADR are available for newly hired ADR nurses? 2: What educational material related to FF monitoring at ADR would newly hired ARD nurses like to get? 3: What educational material related to FF monitoring at ADR would ARD nurses like to have available for newly hired nurses? 4: Is the newly prepared educational material related to FF monitoring suitable for initial training of newly hired ARD nurses? The third part of the thesis deals with work methodology and the research sample. The research was divided into three subsequent stages from December 2010 to June 2011. In-depth interview was chosen as the data collection technique. The research sample consisted of 8 respondents working at anaesthetic-resuscitation department of the České Budějovice Hospital, namely of four respondents with several years of experience and four respondents in the adaptation process. The fourth part of the thesis starts with interviews with the questioned respondents from the first research stage. They are interpreted by means of categorization tables in the thesis. Material on FF monitoring for newly hired nurses, available in Annex 2 is elaborated in the second stage of the research. The third stage of the research is dedicated to responses of the respondents to the newly elaborated educational material on FF monitoring. They were obtained by means of semi structured interviews with the respondents. The research has shown that ARD nurses are not given any educational materials on FF monitoring of sufficient quality. We have found that each of the respondents would like to obtain good quality materials on FF monitoring at his/her start at an ARD. However the respondents said that they did not know what exactly the educational material on FF monitoring should look like. All the eight respondents agree that they like the newly elaborated material on FF monitoring for new nurses from both, the content and form point of view and they would like to use it in practice. The fifth part of the thesis is dedicated to a discussion. It analyses and describes the research and its results. The conclusion of the thesis summarizes the research and the newly obtained information. All the goals of the thesis and the research questions are answered there. The thesis also includes a list of resources, abbreviations used in the text, key words and moreover the annexes elaborated within the work on the thesis.
