The influence of teaching in the school garden to the agricultural literacy
KLIMEŠOVÁ, Eva
The topic of this bachelor thesis was chosen depending on the trend, which points out the fact, that the youth constantly keep alienating themselves from nature. This trend also coheres with the stagnation of their interest for science and the decline in pupils' performance. The goal of this thesis was to test the influence of teaching in the environment of the school garden on the cultivation knowledge of pupils. The literary research focuses on the history of school gardens and the current state of their utilization, as well as on the issues concerning the building of a new school garden and the problems, which can be brought upon schools by it. Furthermore, the research deals with the place school gardens hold in education according to the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education (RVP ZV). The topics of children alienation from nature, its consequences and of agriculture literacy are dealt with within the theoretical section. The second chapter, named Methodology and Primary Information about Respondents, describes the way of gathering respondents for the research and its realisation, the number of the respondents, but also the manner of evaluating the used questionnaires. The third chapter is dedicated to the presentation of the research's results. These results showed that the presence of a school garden has no influence on the level of the agriculture literacy of pupils. The knowledge differed significantly between individual schools.
