"Grenzlandschicksal": Ideological construction of german borderland novel from Bohemia - instance Wilhelm Pleyer

The basic theme of this thesis is radically nationalist German fiction. The thesis focuses on analyzing the "Grenzland" novels by Wilhelm Pleyer. The aim is to determine Pleyer's attempt construct a historical collective memory of Czech Germans, revealing mental and literary stereotypes, establishing an image of each nation. In addition, the methods Pleyer uses to show and evaluate the events of the period, by comparing the interpretations of historical and contemporary events, are also revealed and described. Attention is also given to the identification of philosophical and ideological resources on which Pleyer draws. This thesis also deals with the revision of Wilhelm Pleyer's biography and reconstruction of the evolution of his connection to the ideology of National Socialism. This goal is based on a comparison of information provided by the existing literature with that obtained from archival materials.
