Continuing Education as a Factor of Job Satisfaction Among Foreign Language Lectors

Given the increasing importance of continuing education in adult life, this development opportunity is increasingly being offered to employees within the organisation. Although there is a body of work looking at the potential for continuig education and its impact on job satisfaction for school teachers, this area is not well researched for language educators. The aim of this paper is to analyse continuing education and its relationship with job satisfaction in foreign language educators. The background of the thesis will provide an overview of continuing education, its function, purpose and role in relation to employment. Foreign language lecturers and their specifics within the lecturing job are approached, and last but not least, job satisfaction and its relation to continuing education are elaborated. The quantitative empirical research was carried out using a questionnaire. The aim of the research is to analyse the influence of the possibility of further education provided by the school on the overall job satisfaction of lecturers employed in language schools.
