The theoretical part of the thesis deals with different teaching forms focusing on teaching forms used in extracurricular teaching. The second section of theoretical part summarizes the requirements for educational material used in this form of teaching. The main outcome of the thesis is self-contained worksheets for Zoological garden Ohrada Hluboká nad Vltavou named "DO YOU KNOW THE ANIMALS IN THE ZOO" for children of the 2nd grade elementary school.

The breeding analysis of birds order Ciconiiformes and Phoenicopteriformes in the Ohrada Zoo

Birds belonging to the orders Ciconiiformes and Phoenicopteriformes are common inmates of zoological gardens. There are 12 species of the order Ciconiiformes and 1 species of the order Phoenicopteriformes bred in the Ohrada Zoo. All these species bred in the zoo are found in the Old World chiefly. The successful breeding of mentioned species depends on detailed knowledge of their biology and on providing appropriate breeding conditions. This thesis is an effort for complete analysis of the history and the present of breeding mentioned species in the Ohrada Zoo. The main aim of this thesis was to evaluate the success of nesting of birds mentioned orders in relation to breeding conditions in the zoo according to all available data processing; and to evaluate the success of nesting season of the year 2012 according to watching nesting of the birds in mentioned year. The own watching was carried out since 9th April to 30th June 2012. There are 6 species in this zoo which breed successfully regularly: the Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis), the Little Egret (Egretta garzetta), the Black-crown Night-heron (Nycticorax nycticorax), the Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus), the Eurasian Spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia) and the Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber roseus). One species ? the Black Stork (Ciconia nigra) bred for the very first time in this zoo in 2012. Especially successful is the Greater Flamingo breeding in the Ohrada Zoo. The Eurasian Spoonbill, The Black-crown Night-heron, the Glossy Ibis and the Cattle Egret breeding is successful in relation to breeding conditions in this zoo, too. The nesting season of the year 2012 was exceptionally successful for the Cattle Egrets, the Eurasian Spoonbills and the Glossy Ibises, on the contrary this nesting season was not very successful for the Little Egrets.

Project education focus on primary school pupils´awareness deals with the matter of protection of feral animals

This diploma thesis deals with the matter of protection of feral animals against trafficing. The theme is composed for use at primary school within the framework of project teaching. The work is divided into theoretical and practical section, according to the content. The matter of CITES is expressed in the theoretical part, also the educational activities in the zoological gardens are described in this part (including the educational offer of the Zoo Ohrada) and last but not least the basic concepts for didactical aspect of the thesis are defined. The practical part includes a questionnaire studying the pupils´ attitude to animals generally; evaluation of educational activities offered by the zoological garden Ohrada (included evaluation of the commute); and the project itself. The outcome of the thesis is to check the service ability of the project in practise.

Ohrada Zoo trail - secondary school working sheets

This thesis is aimed at the Czech ZOO´s education activities, concept of self-service worksheets for Ohrada Zoo and evaluation of these worksheets. Three tests (pre-test and two post-tests) and two groups of students were used for the evaluation. First group (experimental) passed the education activities and the tests and the second one (control group) just passed the tests. The self-service worksheets ?Our Fauna? create a practical output of the thesis. As a result of the evaluation we can say that the education activities provided in the Zoo had a pozitive and permanent influence on the students knowledge, irrespectively to their academic performance.

The inventory of trees in the area of the Zoo Ohrada

The thesis is an inventory of all trees in the locality Zoologické zahrady Ohrada in Hluboká nad Vltavou with a focus on the representative of the genus Quercus for which were measured their basic values as thicknes and hight. There was also measured crown diameter and determined health. Additionaly there is tables for genus Quercus with all measured values.

The preparation of an educational pathway Hluboka upon Vltava - Zoo Ohrada

The diploma thesis The preparation of an educational pathway Hluboka upon Vltava - Zoo Ohrada deals with compiling of the terrain in the neighbourhood of the Zoo Ohrada, subsequent creating of designs and texts for individual information boards. The Educational pathway is called, "On the dam of the Municky pond". The first part of the diploma thesis describes physical-geographical characteristics of the defined area and the history of building educational pathways in the Czech Republic, their types and classification. One chapter is devoted to building educational pathways and possibilities of their financing. The content of the second part of the diploma thesis is a design of the educational pathway itself, texts about individual stages, suggestions for an arrangement of information on information boards including visual documentation, their marking and realization. Scope of the boards is varied, they provide a lot of information about flora and fauna that can be found in this area and also information about natural and environmental regularities and relationships between organisms. A part of the diploma thesis is also a methodical guide with plenty of games, suggestions and activities to make the course of the educational pathway more interesting. The appendix of the diploma thesis contains fotodocumentation, maps and a set of worksheets wit a key.
