System providing mediawiki server content for offline browsing on mobile devices
Potočeková, Natália ; Pacovský, Jan (advisor) ; Kliber, Filip (referee)
To make lessons more interactive and interesting for students, typically different work- sheets and educational resources are used. This thesis aims to create a multi-platform mobile application that would make the whole learning process more seamless. The ap- plication focuses on MediaWiki servers that provide multilingual educational resources. The purpose of the application is offline displaying of the resources during lessons or self-studies. Additionally, the resources can be shared via Bluetooth, e-mail or other third-party applications, which makes the resources accessible even for people who can- not install the application themselves. The application stores the latest versions of the resources, which requires a synchro- nization mechanism. To retain single task responsibility of the server and low-cost require- ments, we introduce a communication through a mediator. The mediator is responsible for mirroring the given MediaWiki server's resources and providing them to the client applications. To personalize user's experience, we provide several options for customization, such as setting the language of the application, the update interval, format and language of the resources. Provided solution is available for the Android and iOS platforms. 1
