Analysis of the Israeli far-right activities on the West Bank

There are many negative consequences related to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank. The phenomenon of the settler's violence is one of them. The aim of the thesis is to explain the conditionality of the violence and to put it into context with Israeli political scene. A quantitative analysis is made to examine the relationship between Israeli far-right parties' electoral gains and the incidence of violence against Palestinians residents of the West Bank. Also, spatial analysis is made to measure the level of clustering of the incidents. To articulate the theoretical assumptions, the theory of social cleavages was used. In line with the assumptions, the results suggest that in Jewish settlements on the West Bank, there is statistically significant connection between Israeli far-right parties' electoral gains and the number of the violent incidents. The strongest correlation is proven between the incidents and the electoral gains of the parties influenced by Kahanism, a militant racist ideology. There is a weaker correlation between the incidence of violence and the electoral gains of the parties representing Religious Zionism, an ideology that combines religion and nationalism. Jewish Resettlement of Hebron after 1967

The thesis outlined the history of the Jewish settlement of Hebron from Biblical times to the year 1929, which was the milestone in the history of the Jewish settlement of this city. The thesis describes the aftermath of the Six-Day War (in June 1967) and the atmosphere in the Jewish society, which played into the hands of the spiritual authorities of religious Zionism - e.g. Abraham Isaac Kook and his son Tzvi Yehuda Kook. Their messianic expectations and teachings, which made the settlement of the Land of Israel the top priority, led to the expansion of the settlement in the territory of biblical Judea and the Samaria Area. We watched the beginning of settlement activities that significantly affected politics. We provided examples that led to the "resettlement" of Hebron after 1979 when the women and children of the settlers from Kirjath Arba occupied the former Jewish hospital Hadassa, which meant the actual "resettlement" of Hebron because up until then, their settlements had been built only on the outskirts of the city. I also tried to describe the settlement differences and motivations between both Jewish communities before and after the Six-Day War.

European Union and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Next year will the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories celebrate the 50th Anniversary. European Union, the most significant trade partner of Israel as well as the biggest donor of Palestine, was for a long time a mere observer of a situation of deepening of the occupation and postponing of its end because of building of Israeli settlements on the one side and of gradual division of Palestinian territories between radical Hamas and Fatah. Just in the autumn of 2015 the European Union decided to take a restrictive step towards Israel by setting clear rules of labelling of Israeli goods produced in those Israeli settlements. However, a harsh response has come both from the Israeli government and from some of EU member states. Therefore this work focuses on evaluation of the legitimacy of this move and on trying to assess the reason of its partial failure.

The scarcity of water: Space for a cooperation or a possible resource of conflict between Israel and Palestine?

Water is an essential liquid for life. Although we are in the 21th century, a billion of people lack access to safe drinking water. In comparison with the first half of the 20th century, the access to safe fresh water has decreased three times. The most serious situation is in the 30 countries located in the Middle East and Africa. The specificity of the situation in the West Bank, among others, lies in an ongoing long-standing religious and political conflict over territory and water supplies are an integral part of it. An important factor in the issue of the activity on both sides of the border is at the level of non-governamental sector, but these initiatives face barriers of economic and especially political nature.

Bachelor thesis examines the development of relations between Israelis and Palestinians based on the distant past and is deeply engaged in the development of the conflict over the past 10 years . The text describes the problem of Palestinian refugees, Israeli policy of construction Jewish settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, the problem of ownership of water resources in the region and the issue of demarcation of the future Palestinian state. The text provides a comprehensive picture of the contentious issues that prevent the conclusion of peace between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, or point to possible solutions to the various points of conflict.

The Role of Settlements in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the influence of the settlements on the peace process. It views the settlements as one of the problematic points of the permanent status. It also tries to outline the possibilities of future development of this problem regarding present situation. First part of the thesis presents historic moments that are important for this issue. The second part offers different views of the structure of settlements in the West Bank. The third part deals with the legal dimension of settlements, local administration, and the land-seizure methods. The fourth part is about political representation of the settlers, and also about anti-settler movements. The last part defines settlements as an obstacle in the peace process, and deals with perspectives of future disengagement possibilities.

The Role of the European Union in the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process

The topic of this Bachelor Thesis is a role of the European Union in a conflict betweet the State Israel and the Palestinian Authority. It includes a sketch of a historical activity of European states in the region, but mainly it pursues the actual situation. It brings up a review of both bilateral and multilateral relations between the EU and either the State Israel or the Palestinian Authority. The Thesis also contains an analysis of the most actual events in the region, to whom also a question of Arab revolutions in 2011 is included. In the final part a possible future outlook is presented and recommendations for the EU's prospective activities are projected.
