Inventure of the City Center ? Brno – Veveří – Žerotínovo náměstí
Holá, Martina ; Chládek, Pavel (referee) ; Hybská, Bohumila (advisor)
The main subject of the thesis is a revision of current area framing northwest part of Žerotín Square, that nowadays consists of so called White house (center for children health care and a seat of a medical school). The design is based on theoretical situation concerning the removal of White house and therefore it uses the newly existing place as a subject for new architectural solution. The solution emphasizes the completion of current block of buildings with large courtyard and corner between Žerotín Square and Veveří street, which is very important for traffic. The thesis is focusing on finding the right form, scale and functional content which would reflect the importance of the location, especially focusing on the Brno’s ring road that goes directly to Denisovy sady and accessibility of this city’s part. It also respects the design of the back side of the Red Church. The design uses the newly existing place as a location for new apartment building that reflects the scale of similar buildings in Marešov and other nearby streets and it also proposes administration building as an architectural solution for this location, which would be used as a seat for both municipal and national institutions.

Brno lives on Veveří
Tymová, Romana ; Joja, Milan (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the preparation of an urban study, which extends in the area between Žižkova, Šumavská, Kounicova and Nerudova streets. Emphasis is then placed on Veveří Street, which lacks most of urban character. The central territory for this design is often associated with the term Akademické náměstí. This place, dominated by the "Brněnská trojčata", is now defined by an unsightly parking area, a collection yard and a grassy forecourt of the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University. The aim of the design is to make Veveří Street a full-fledged attractive urban avenue, to complement the disparate structure of the place with appropriate volumes with new functions and facilities, and to design appropriate modifications to the newly created public spaces. The work also includes an architectural design of one of the newly designed buildings.

The empty parts of the area are filled in by a new urban development and neglected public spaces have been modified. Proposed multifunctional buildings offer services, administrative spaces and apartments of various layouts and sizes. The design also includes parking solution in underground garages. The building directly adjacent to the Academic Square is designed in more detail.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to design new urban planning around the Veveří city street in the section from Konečné náměstí to Mučednická street and to design a multifunctional complex that will help to spatially define this city main street. In this work I focus on the mentioned multifunctional building as one fragment of the Veveří district. Furthermore, I more clearly define the before-space of the MU Faculty of Law and connects Bjornson Park with the proposed multifunctional building through a green street corridor. By adding new functions to the mentioned under-used center, this place becomes more attractive and its potential is used to create a new social life. In particular, there will be space for shops and services, as well as new housing and job opportunities for the people of Brno.

The diploma thesis deals with the urban design of the completion of the block on Veveří and the architectural design of two apartment buildings on Veveří Street, the revitalization and modification of streets, the transport and parking in underground garages. It also deals with the public space on the newly created Závodní and Severní streets and life on Veveří within the commercial parterre and public spaces. The goal was to revitalize a dilapidated and unused block almost in the very centre of Brno, to create an adequate spatial design of buildings, which meet the social, economic and environmental requirements of the 21st century.

Burian, Vít ; Kaštánková, Jana (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The thesis addresses the issue of one of the main streets in Brno, Veveří street, in a general context. The subject of the solution is the development of a missing city block between Sokolská and Pekárenská streets, with the blind alley Závodní. The thesis is based on an urban design proposal from a previous project, which has been revised and slightly modified. The thesis then focuses on the design of two buildings within the addressed block and the adjacent public space at the intersection of Veveří and Pekárenská streets. While the first building represents an atypical corner house with an entrance to an underground parking and block supply, the second building represents a typical row house, whose principles can be applied to other objects within the street or block. The proposal also includes the solution of underground parking under the entire built-up block. The design considers and applies the use of spaces for commerce and services, offices, but primarily housing in the city center.
