The requirements of the airworthiness of aircraft

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of the certification process of the airworthiness of aircraft. The emphasis is placed on the basic procedures for obtaining a certificate of airworthiness as the main document for the authorization to operate an aircraft in civil aviation. Legislative documents specifying the necessary requirements for obtaining and maintaining such certificate are comprehensively processed. Relevant documents are analysed from the point of view of national and EU legislation. This document is elaborated with the intention of using it for preparation and theoretical preparation in the field.

The thesis is focused on Regulations requierements, on the whole certification process and on requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority on sailplane HpH 304 Sm with auxiliary engine Binder for start. The separate parts and the certification procedure in the whole are described. Main part of the thesis consists of check flight and suggestion of programme of check flight. Due to the fact that certification is an extensive process, this thesis tries to describe all important aspects of certification process, so it would create a view of plane certification process.

The focus of this study is to investigate the requirements and procedures for obtaining and maintaining a certificate of airworthiness of aircraft and aeronautical products within the scope of civil aviation. The requirements investigated include the standards regarding airworthiness requirements for large airplanes, helicopters, small airplanes, engines, and propellers. The procedures for certification and continuing airworthiness throughout the design, production and operating life of an aircraft are explained.
