Volunteer Firefighters - a relic from the past or a phenomenon of today?

Bachelor thesis called Volunteer Firefighters - a relic from the past or a phenomenon of today? follows up volunteer firefighters and their activities not only in the past, but also current times. This thesis looks into whether the volunteer firefighters department Dolní Žďár is still traditional folk culture or already popular culture. Concurrently is in this work tracked how this department has been changed through the times. It is separated between four parts. In the first one there are explained only basic concepts. The second one is about the history of firefighters. The third part is about a mentioned firefighters department in Dolní Žďár and about the history. The last part includes a separation of culture customs which they still maintain in the village.
Folklore and preschool education

The comparasion of the Ride of the Kings in the cities of Hluk, Kunovice, Skoronice and Vlčnov.

The bachelor thesis describes the Ride of the Kings as an example of traditional Czech folk culture and demonstrates the differenes between the Ride of the Kings in the cities of Hluk, Kunovice and Skoronice and Vlčnov. It presents the legislation of the Czech republic as well as the legislation of UNESCO; it also includes a description of the entry in the Representative List of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The practical part of the thesis brings the comparision of the ceremony, history, traditions and customs of the Ride in the selected villages. It also deals with the budgets of these villages.
Conceptual documents in the field of culture and their use in the traditional folk culture of the Zlín Region

The bachelor thesis aims to find contemporary approaches to support and preservation of traditional and folk culture according to the used strategic and conceptual documents. The theoretical part is devoted to the analysis of the Recommendation of the 25th General Conference of UNESCO on the Safeguarding of Traditional Culture and Folklore from 1989 and, in particular, to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of 2003, which is based on the Recommendation. Based on these, the Strategy of Improved Care for Traditional Folk Culture in the Czech Republic for the period 2016-2020 was created. According to these documents, in the practical part of the thesis, the cultural legislative documents of the Zlín Region will be analyzed (especially the Conception of the Local Culture Development of the Zlín Region and the Concept of the Development of the Zlín Region Organizations in the Field of Culture for the period 2015-2024) with application to the traditional folk culture of this region.
Reflection of the Moravian Slovakia‘s folklore in the collections of the Museum of Czech Literature and a proposal for its presentation

This Thesis discusses the mapping and documentation of the folklore of Moravian Slovakia and traditional folk culture in collections of the Museum of Czech Literature. The collections of this culture government organization have never been researched from this point of view before. The thesis findings reveal that a great number of archives oriented on folkloric rich ethnographic region of Moravian Slovakia have been found in the collections of the Museum of Czech Literature, specifically in the three following departments of the museum: Literary Archive, Art Collections, and Library. The vast majority of the found materials come from the 19th century and first half of the 20th century. The archives are composed of a wide range of materials, such as manuscripts, typescripts, photography, cuttings, printings, drawings, lithography, graphics, sculptures, paintings, publications, periodicals, bibliophile books. The found materials belong to the traditional folk culture, as far as high art and culture. The outcome of this study is a proposal for the exhibition project Slovácko! which is intended to illustrate possible ways how to propagate and present the explored artifacts and archive materials from the collections. Drafts of financial sources, staffing, concept of the exhibition and graphic solution of some promotional designs are included in the proposal.

Reflections of the Moravian Slovakia‘s folk culture in a High Art and culture of the “fin de siecle“ (it’s institutionalization and manifestations nowadays)

This Bachelor's Thesis is focused on the mapping of documentation, preservation and presentation of the Moravian Slovakia's folk culture in the late 19th and early 20th century. Activities of many societies, clubs and movements, especially artistic, were results of a huge interest in folkloristic themes in those times. Theoretical part of the Thesis is devoted to the historical background of reflection and presentation of the folk culture of Moravian Slovakia. Institutionalization of this specific phenomenon means its research and displaying by museums, galleries and other mainly ethnographical associations as a try to conserve slowly fading folk culture of this specific region. As a result of this Thesis it is possible to confirm great impact of the historical movements and societies on nowadays ways of preservation and presentation Moravian Slovakia's folk culture. Also many contemporary cultural events and organisations in the Czech Republic are based on these subjects from the past.
Analysis and Comparison of Activities of the Assigned Regional Centres of Care for Traditional Folk Culture

This Diploma Thesis is focused on the issues of care for the traditional folk culture in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part there is described the development of international and Czech legislative in the field of traditional folk culture, which has an impact on the practical care. The care is practised by the assigned regional centres of care for traditional folk culture in all regions of the Czech Republic. The assigned centres work in accordance with the Strategy of Improved Care for Traditional Folk Culture in the Czech Republic 2011-2015. Aim of this thesis is to find out by means of analysis and comparison whether the assigned regional centres fulfil the specific tasks formulated in the Strategy. For this purpose a special questionnaire was created and evaluated. The results of the analysis will be used as a source material by the Ministry of Culture Czech Republic. On the basis of the results it will be possible to change, reduce of re-formulate the tasks for the regional centres in the new Strategy.
Traditional folk culture and the possibilities for its use in the education and personal development of a child

This thesis tackles the topic of the influence folk culture has on shaping the identity of a child. The theoretical part describes the legislative framework of traditional folk culture in the Czech Republic as well as on the international level. Furthermore, this part deals with the standing traditional folk culture has in the documents issued by the ministry of education. The correct interpretation of educational curricula and the adherence to the documents issued by the ministry of culture impact the mediation of cultural information to children. With the help of interviews with children, the NIPOS survey (The role selected arts activities had in the shaping of identities of primary school children) and own experience, this bachelor thesis aims to find out the nature of the influence of traditional folk culture on the education and personal development of children. In addition, the thesis seeks to present suitable suggestions on how to better and more efficiently mediate folk culture to children not only in the state-owned educational institutions but also in the family settings.
The influence of the inscription of cultural assets on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in the region of Slovácko

The thesis aims to determine the influence on the development and preservation of traditional folk culture which had the inscription of two cultural assets, The Ride of kings and The Slovácko verbuňk, on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in the region of Slovácko. In general the thesis also introduces applicable regulations of UNESCO in the field of intangible cultural heritage and their application in the Czech Republic. In more detail, the thesis devotes to the process of inscription of both cultural assets on the Representative List of UNESCO, particularly to the safeguarding measures and obligations arising from it for the Czech Republic. In conclusion the thesis explains how these safeguarding measures are met, and analyzes the impact of the entry to the UNESCO for assets themselves and their recipients and for general public.
