Tourism trends in SIDS before and during the pandemic of COVID-19. Case study St. Martin - the Caribbean.

Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are a specific group of tourism destinations that are often economically dependent on the tourism industry. This paper examines the development of tourism in SIDS in the Caribbean before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, in which tourism was significantly restricted. The theoretical concept of the tourism area life cycle identifies the developmental stages of tourism in destinations, which, however, can be greatly affected by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The island of St. Martin was chosen for the research at the micro-regional level, where arrival numbers, activities and behaviors of tourists and day visitors were further examined. Sustainable development of tourism in Dolní Morava destination

Topic: Sustainable development of tourism in the Dolní Morava destination Objectives: The main aim of the thesis is to warn about the negative impacts of tourism, based on an evaluation of the destination's present state of development. The conclusions of the thesis could contribute to the destination's future sustainable development. Methods: In the research part of this work, which has an empirical character, methods of data collection and methods of data analysis and interpretation were used. Two methods and specific techniques for collecting of primary data were used: qualitative questioning (semi- structured interview) and quantitative questioning (questionnaire). The method of content analysis was used for secondary data collection of and, together with statistical analysis, as a method of data analysis and interpretation. Results: Over the course of the last 15 years, Dolní Morava has become a dynamically developing popular tourist destination, renowned in the entire country, thanks mainly to its outstanding natural conditions, modern sports infrastructure including two skiing areas, and development of tourist activities. Tourism destination development - Bedřichov in Jizera Mountains

The goal of this thesis is to evaluate the current state of Bedřichov from the perspective of tourism and draw the attention to the threats and opportunities stemming from its potential further development. This thesis employs the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC) model, firstly applied to Bedřichov itself and later compared to Špindlerův Mlýn. This method allows for the analysis of the current position of Bedřichov in its life cycle as well as its expected development. The outcome of this thesis should be beneficial in the evaluation of further development in Bedřichov with respect to the ecological sustainability in the region.
