Heating in the Middle ages

This work aims to summarize the development of medieval heating systems particularly in higher social classes with a concern on their art form and their position in the residential interior. Therefore it proves necessary to include the spatial arrangement of medieval residential space. The authoress especially focuses on the development of fireplaces, tiled stoves and fume or hot-air heating using both preserved and reconstructed heating or whole heating systems, but also iconographic material and written references. It also emaphasises the origin and early forms of heating. Survey on the Changing Life Style during the Period of the Middle Ages. Tile Stoves in the Residential Buildings in the Period from the 13th up to the 15th Century.

This bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of a changing life style during the Middle Ages. It deals with the tile stoves within residential buildings, especially their technical parametres, their production, and also the usage by people as for their personal comfort. The methods of gaining data were based on the thermographic images and temperature measuring.
