Additive technologies and their using when making prototype castings
Čagánek, Radim ; Horenský, Jiří (referee) ; Horáček, Milan (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with Rapid Prototyping systems and their uses in foundry. This thesis describes three most significant RP systems, on which is explained principle and distribution of them. The another part of the thesis describes how is RP systems useful in production of sand molds, ceramic shells and permanent mold.
Development of ceramic shell for manufacturing of large Al investment castings
Hýbal, Ondřej ; Šmatelka, Jakub (referee) ; Horáček, Milan (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the choice of the most suitable composition of a ceramic shell mold for aluminum castings made by investment casting technology. The most suitable composition of the ceramic shells is chosen based on the results of the tests and from economic point of view. This thesis also deals with evaluation of the current conditions of the production of ceramic shells in Alucast, s.r.o and recommendations for stabilizing the process of manufacturing ceramic shell molds.
Present state of investment casting technology
Žuja, Jaroslav ; Vašťák, Patrik (referee) ; Horáček, Milan (advisor)
This thesis discusses the current methods and innovative technologies for lost wax model. The work also describes the literature search in currently used methods and also offers real insight into the future, using new methods. In the beginning is briefly discussed the history of the method, then new possibilities for technology testing and structures of wax blends and their properties. And finally, there are given opportunities and goals for the next innovation methods.

On the cutting of cast superalloys
Metelková, Jitka ; Sliwková, Petra (referee) ; Píška, Miroslav (advisor)
This work deals with the issue of defects generation during the separation of the castings from a nickel-based superalloy, Inconel 738LC. The technology of investment casting is presented, followed by a description of metallurgy of superalloys, their physical and mechanical properties, as well as their technical applications. The machinability of superalloys and method of castings separation were also described as well as some of the casting defects that were reported to have impact on the generation of the defects after cutting. In the experimental part, the material microstructure and casting defects were analyzed. The experimental machining part consisted first of a comparative study of the friction sawing and plasma arc cutting technology at the standard operating conditions actually used in production. Second, an optimization study for the friction sawing was carried out, with a special focus on the suitability of an alternative cutoff wheel for the chosen application. Application of this wheel allows reducing the security distance between the cut and the part, thus reducing the production cost of the part.
