Stephena Jamese Smith's Irish Performance Poetry

This bachelor thesis deals with the phenomenon of performative poetry. It focuses on the historical context of the contemporary phenomenon as well as on its forms. In order to do so, it uses the personal insight of a particular Irish poet, Stephen James Smith. It explores how performative poetry reflects the tradition of oral poetry in both form and content. Within a general context, it then focuses on specific aspects of S. J. Smith's work arising from his personal account as well as from an analysis of one of his poems, and its various performances.
