Specifics of Nursing Care in Paediatric Patient after Hernia Surgery

The presented bachelor's thesis is focused on the specifics of nursing care of a pediatric patient after hernia surgery. In the theoretical part, the concepts such as nursing, the nursing process, and pediatric patient are characterized. Furthermore, the theoretical part contains a review of relevant knowledge concerning hernias, their general description, types of hernias, symptomatology, and therapy in pediatric patients. The empirical part of the thesis aims to compare nursing care standards following hernia surgery in selected university hospitals. A quantitative questionnaire survey using a non-standardized questionnaire was chosen as a research method. The questionnaire survey was conducted at Thomayer University Hospital, Motol University Hospital, and Bulovka University Hospital. A total of 64 questionnaires were analyzed, of which 54 were in electronic form and 10 in printed form. The return rate of these questionnaires was 100 %. The research results showed that individual nursing standards differ by department only minimally, for example in patient monitoring after surgery, or in the length of patinet's hospitalization after hernia surgery.
