Adolescent self-harm in the context of the online environment

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the process of self-harm in adolescents in the context of the online environment. The first chapter of the literature review is devoted to the terminological definition of the problem, its occurrence and its determination. The second chapter focuses on the process of self-harm, functions and the factors that affect it. Emphasis is also placed on the role of stigmatization in the life of a self-harming individual. The third chapter is about the selected developmental aspects of adolescence that can affect individuals. The last chapter of the literature review part deals with the online environment, focusing on its specifics, online communities and the reasons why individuals prefer the online environment over the real one. The second part of the bachelor thesis is a research proposal. The research proposal aims to map the process of self-harm in the context of the online environment and respond to expanding questions. Considering the topic and the goal of the research, the qualitative design was chosen. The specific method that will be used is a semi-structured interview, which will be analyzed using grounded theory.
