The EU's Common Agricultural Policy and its Impact on Economics of Farms in a Comparison of Circular Economics.
MUNDUCHOVÁ, Kateřina
The aim of the thesis is to analyze the principles, intentions and fuctioning of the common agricultural policy of the EU (CAP). Subsequently assess its impact on the ecnonomy of agricultural companies as entities operating in the circular economy. Since joining the EU, financial resources from European funds (EAGF, EARFD) have been flowing to the Czech Republic, and their mediation is the main task of the State Agricultural Intervention Fund (SZIF). In the thesis is analyze the development of payments of the first and second pillars of the CAP from 2004 to 2020, furthermore, the development of agricultural subsidies and their impact on the financial situation in the selected agricultural company including a comparasion with the average agricultural enterprise in the Czech Republic and the EU. Financial data on the development of payments of both pillars are taken from the annual reports of SZIF. Information about the company can be obtained from the public registr and the collection of documents and from the list of recipients of SZIF subsidies. Data about the average enterprise is downloaded from the FADN database. It is found that the CAP is not only financed from the EU budget, but also from the budget of the Czech Republic. From the financial analysis of the company X, Plc., it follows that the company is not capable to make a profit wit-hout subsidies and finally by means of test statistic the hypothesis of no difference in the paid amounts of the first pillar between the selected subject and the average enterprise is disproved.
Common agricultural Policy of the EU - problems and attempts for reform
Nováková, Markéta ; Hraba, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Borkovec, Aleš (referee)
This diploma thesis tackles the issue of key reforms of the Common Agricultural Policy (hereinafter "CAP") made by the European Union (hereinafter "EU") during the last years and includes the context and the reasons which led to it. Despite the range of positive results which the CAP of the EU brings, it is followed by controversy. Agriculture as a topic rouses emotions and remains to be a delicate theme which often divides politicians. Disputes concerning conception of the policy are lead not only on the European and domestic level but also on the grounds of international organisations. Those which I would like to emphasize are particularly negotiations before the World Trade Organisation which tries to liberalize the international trade. A focus of this thesis is put on analysis of the development after year 2003 when the last significant turnover of the policy took place. Since this turnover until today we are witnessing only gradual changes. The aim of this thesis to analyse and evaluate whether if and in what areas did the EU make a change in the policy which reacted on its's objective issues and critics. After a brief introduction of the policy, the first part of the thesis focuses on specific problematic issues of the CAP that are criticised. I will attempt to describe and explain selected...

Analysis of the Grant System of Ministry of Agriculure in the Czech Republic
Lazárková, Jana ; Zeman, Karel (advisor) ; Vebrová, Ludmila (referee)
When becoming a member of the European Union, the Czech Republic became also a member of Common Agriculture Policy (CAP). CAP is the oldest, the costliest and the most criticized policy of the EU. Grants from agricultural funds are the second biggest item, which the Czech Republic receives from the EU funds. The Czech government donates lots of money for the agricultural economy as well. Every member state receives different amount of money sent to the agriculture by the EU. With respect to the unequal conditions and the big amount of finance sent to the agriculture this topic is still very important. In the theoretical part, definitions and terms will be specified. This part will deal with Common Agricultural Policy, its establishment, aims, principles, instruments and financing. Furthermore, the opinions of economists about agriculture grants will be mentioned. In the analytic part, the progress of the Grant System of Ministry of Agriculure in the Czech Republic from 1989 until today will be analyzed. The statutory and institutional framework of grants and financial flows into the agriculture will be analyzed as well. This bachelor thesis aims to analyze the Grant System of Ministry of Agriculure in the Czech Republic from 1989 until 2010 and to comment on the statutory and institutional framework and to explain the meaning of grants into agriculture.
Milk production quotas and milk vending machines
Veselá, Anna ; Mičúch, Marek (advisor) ; Mirvald, Michal (referee)
The thesis focuses on the regulation of the dairy market. The reason why production quotas were introduced was cost reduction within CAP, as the overproduction was still present and costs of storage were too high. The result of this regulation was reduction in number of cows and shut down of many farms. Besides this low prices of milk were reason as well. Now the price the farmers sell the milk for is about 2 CZK lower than is the production cost. Some farmers decided to purchase a vending machine for milk, where they can sell one litre of milk for 13 -- 15 CZK. I investigate if this investment can help them to improve their economic situation. I come to a conclusion that this way of selling milk is suitable only for small farms.
