Active Learning of Russian Language at Elementary School

The objective of this diploma thesis is to explore the possibilities of using Learner- centred methods in teaching Russian language. The thesis deals with Learner-centred methods in teaching Russian language at elementary schools and offers a didactic material based on this methodology. Withn the theoretical framework of the thesis the basic concepts are defined as well as the Communicative approach towards language teaching is characterised and discussed. Learner-centedred methods are viewed not only as a useful tool for more effective language learning, but also as an unseparable part of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). Drawing on CLT, the communicative criterion is applied in the following classification of Learner- centered methods. Using the Learner-centered methodology, the practical part of the thesis offers a didactic material. The materiel is intended for Rusisan language students and was tested in Elementary schools. In the last part of the thesis the material is analyzed. On the basis of this analysis conclusions are drawn and possibilities of Learner-centered methods in Russian language teaching are described. Folklore Texts in Russian Language Teaching

The thesis focuses on the use of folklore texts in Russian language textbooks intended for Czech learners. Selected textbooks were chosen to be analysed. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to the summary of theoretical findings in the field of folklore and relationship between language, culture and oral tradition. Theoretical part explains the term folklore as a part of discipline that deals with folklore studies. The term is elaborated on and presented in relationship with language, culture and oral tradition. Practical part informs about the results of analysis of the didactic files with its aim to find methods of folklore texts application. Pupil's and Teacher's Attitudes towards Russian as the Second Foreign Language

This diploma thesis deals with the attitude of pupils and teachers towards Russian as the second foreign language in the Czech school environment. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the role of Russian in the contemporary world, the history and the current position of teaching the language at Czech schools. What is also described are the linguodidactic and psycholinguistic aspects of foreign language teaching. The practical part of the thesis analyzes the data gained via a questionnaire survey focusing primarily on the aspects of the pupils' motivation to studying Russian and their expectations. It also deals with the attitude of teachers towards teaching Russian as the second foreign language. The main aim of the thesis is to clearly prove or prove false statements about what types of pupils choose Russian and why. The thesis discovers that the most frequent reasons for the choice of Russian as the second foreign language are the simplicity of Russian (resemblance to Czech) and its euphoniousness and language attractiveness. The analysis of the gained data proves false the statement that Russian is chosen primarily by the pupils who dislike foreign languages. On the other hand, it proves the statement that it is often chosen by pupils with special educational needs. The survey also...

Working with Synonyms in Teaching of Russian Language at High School

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the usage of synonyms in teaching Russian language at high schools. The theoretical part of this thesis outlines the issues of synonyms and synonymous series from the linguistic (paradigmatic relations, semantics, stylistic) and linguodidactic point of view. The theoretical part also includes the issue of vocabulary from the didactic point of view. Furthermore, in the practical part, the diversity of synonyms used in curriculum of Russian language teaching are evaluated as well as the methods of demonstration and practising of such curriculum. In the final part of this thesis my own concepts for working with synonyms in teaching Russian language at high schools are suggested.
