This bachelor thesis is focused on the topic "Spanish foodstuffs with a Protected Designation of Origin, Protected Geographical Indication and Traditional Specialities Guaranteed (meat products)." It deals with protected meat products of Spain. The thesis is divided in two parts. Fisrt of all is presented the foodstuffs quality label system in the European Union, the types of European designations, the reasons of their introduction, the history and the allocation process of protected designations. The main part is dedicated to particular meat products of Spain, the areas of their origin with geographical climatic description and other specific. In conclusion, is evaluated the importance of protected designations for producers, market and consumers. The final part of the thesis is made by a summary in Spanish.

This bachelor thesis deals with the Spanish foodstuffs with a Protected Designation of Origin, Protected Geographical Indication and Traditional Specialties Guaranteed with a focus on dairy products, specifically on Spanish cheeses. The first part focuses on foodstuffs quality labeling system in the European Union. In more detail there are explained types of European designation, the reasons for their introduction and history of guaranteed origin labeling of foodstuffs. Also, the current development of European quality policy for agricultural products is briefy outlined, Subsequently it is described the allocation process of protected designations. The second part presents basic information about Spain, namely geografic location, topography and administrative structure, then the specification of protected dairy products to Spanish cheeses. In the following chapters there are stated the characteristics of selected cheeses, their areas of origin and other specifics. In conclusion, I evaluated the importance of protected designations for producers, market and consumers. Finally, the summary in Spanish is attached.
