The Use of Recycled Building Materials for Wastewater Treatment
Zedník, Ondřej ; Pumprlová Němcová, Miroslava (referee) ; Kriška-Dunajský, Michal (advisor)
The constantly tightening wastewater treatment legislation require high-quality runoff from small-scale producers of pollution who are typically represented by small municipalities up to 500 inhabitants or decentralized parts of larger municipalities. Small municipalities are faced with high investment-intensity associated with the acquisition of new wastewater treatment plant. After several years of development, today natural technologies of wastewater treatment are in competition with mechanical-biological treatment plants. Natural technologies can even achieve better results than popular biological treatment plants. However, natural technology does not eliminate the main investment limit connected with the acquisition of wastewater treatment plant. If there was cheaper solution connected with using alternative filter materials (in our case recycled construction and demolition waste), small municipalities could take constructed wetland without large subsides. At the same time, the use of recycled construction and demolition wastes will lead to benefits in the field of sustainable urban development and replacement of non-renewable materials. Despite these benefits, recycled aggregates have never been considered as alternative filter materials for natural wastewater treatment plants. For that reason, the aim of diploma thesis is to assess the possibility of applying recycled aggregates for wastewater treatment which will include evaluation of real trial operation.
Project of a natural wastewater treatment plant for the municipality of Hvozd
Šenková, Lucie ; Pumprlová Němcová, Miroslava (referee) ; Kriška-Dunajský, Michal (advisor)
The topic to Diploma Thesis is design of Biological Wastewater Treatment for 450 PE in Hvozd Commune (Region Olomoucký). First part is dedicated to description of multiple possible variants of design. In the following part is more detailed described chosen technology. Except from description of technology are also shown parameters calculations proposal. Some of the main reasons for preference of Biological Wastewater Treatment are low maintenance requirements, independence of energy supply or possibility of future sludge treatment. Foundational materials for the design were first, Local Zoning Plan which describes current and future drainage and wastewater disposal situation. Second, study aims at parameters calculations of French system. Project documentation is part and parcel of this thesis. Documentation will also be a basis for planning building permission.
The Design of Extensive Wastewater Treatment Plant for the Municipality up to 500 PE
Brychtová, Veronika ; Sládek, Roman (referee) ; Kriška-Dunajský, Michal (advisor)
The subject of this master thesis is a 300 EP wastewater treatment wetland proposal in Uhřice village. Wetland was designated as the most reasonable available technology for Uhřice village - the selection of a water treating process was preceded by an assessment of the investment plan, achievable results, and service requirement. The introduction part is focused on the area of interests, its basic information and describes the individual object proposal. Object proposal consists of input parametres for dimensioning individual objects and detailed calculations. Part of the thesis includes drawing documentary of individual objects and the complete wastewater treatment wetland as a complex area. The design of the solution is based on the knowledge gained during the bachelor thesis, on research and operational objects that are already designed and on which the Institute of Landscape Water Management in cooperation with the spin-off BUT, Conwe s.r.o. This master thesis will be used as a background for the individual stages of project management in the Uhřice village.
French systems technology for natural wastewater treatment in small municipalities
Tůmová, Tereza ; Němcová, Miroslava Pumprlová (referee) ; Kriška-Dunajský, Michal (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the "French systems" technology, or French solution for natural wastewater treatment. The system receives raw wastewater (without a pre-settling tank) directly into the first filtration stage, the basic principle of which is to process sludge and wastewater in one step, so there is no need to build settling tanks. It is a natural treatment plant which, thanks to its characteristics, could help small municipalities which, for economic reasons, cannot afford expensive mechanical-biological wastewater treatment plants. The thesis includes a clear description of the procedure for sizing the individual facilities according to foreign literature, and a literature search will be carried out within the theoretical introduction to French systems, including operational experience and results from abroad. The theoretical possibilities of using materials other than natural ones for the creation of the filter cartridge of vertical filters will be described. The practical part of the thesis deals with the specific design of a natural wastewater treatment plant using the French system of wastewater treatment for a part of the village of Jablonové in Slovakia. The condition of the design is to meet the emission limits (within the framework of the current legislation) and to ensure the necessary efficiency of wastewater treatment, especially in the pollution indicators BOD5, COD, TSS, TKN.
Constructed Treatment Wetland for Neratov Village
Kanta, Martin ; Pumprlová Němcová, Miroslava (referee) ; Kriška-Dunajský, Michal (advisor)
The municipality of Neratov is currently dealing with wastewater management, which includes the design of a new sewerage network and wastewater treatment plant. A pressure sewerage network and a wastewater treatment plant are currently being designed in the village, the design of which is the theme of the bachelor's thesis. With the latest development of the situation, the municipality is considering a reserve for a larger number of connected inhabitants as a way forward, so the whole work is designed from today's perspective as a partially oversized WWTP building. The introductory part of the bachelor thesis deals with the description of possible pollutants flowing into the treatment plant and their limits for discharge, the possibility of transporting wastewater to the treatment plant, types of mechanical-biological treatment plants and especially natural treatment plants, where the objects of pre-treatment, main stages of treatment. The second part deals with a specific design of the technological arrangement of a natural wastewater treatment plant. The practical part includes a description of the area of interest, the character of the village Neratov, the design of individual stages of treatment with a detailed description of the facilities at the treatment plant. The documentation also includes sample drawings, floor plans and sections. The proposed solution requires a minimum of electricity for its operation, it is a compact solution installed above the level of the existing terrain. The design also includes its own sludge management, ensuring the minimum possible operating costs.
Effluent-free treatment plant technology for small wastewater producers
Škarpa, Pavel ; Němcová, Miroslava Pumprlová (referee) ; Kriška-Dunajský, Michal (advisor)
The work aims to find new ways to dispose of wastewater. The theoretical part covers the currently known procedures for the discharge of treated wastewater into surface or groundwater, as well as the balancing of wastewater after previous accumulation. Furthermore, the theoretical part summarises the legislation of the Czech Republic concerning wastewater disposal. The measurement part deals with a new potential option, a sump with upstream water treatment. If the treatment is carried out on the principle of natural wastewater treatment, the volume of water can be reduced by evapotranspiration. Therefore, the aim of this work is to determine the realistic evapotranspiration of a vertical filter, to find a design methodology for a vertical filter to achieve optimal evapotranspiration and a suitable technological arrangement. Another objective is to use long-term air temperature records available from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute database. The average daily evapotranspiration measured on the laboratory model reached a value of 4.5 mm/day in September 2021. In March 2022 it reached almost 2 mm/day. The equations for determining the potential evapotranspiration applied in the calculation part of the work achieved the highest agreement of 67.5% with the evapotranspiration measured on the laboratory model and will therefore be further developed to achieve much higher reliability of the calculation.
