Urban, Radek ; Opatrný, Josef (advisor) ; Křížová, Markéta (referee)
The origins of Latin American regional integration can be found in the first half of nineteenth century, nevertheless the biggest boom of integration in Latin America have been observed during the last sixty years. Just after the World War II the Organization of American States was established followed by Latin American Free Trade Association, and many others. This thesis analyses the progress and its problems of six major processes of regional integration: OAS; LAFTA/LAIA; Andean Community; processes of integration in Central America and Caribbean; and MERCOSUR. The Thesis is complemented by brief introduction to theories of integration and by a summary of remaining processes of integration since WWII to the present.

The aim of my thesis is both to describe the steps of the OAS and the Council of Europe in the fight against terrorism and also to compare their approach in this area. The thesis is divided into four chapters, which are further subdivided into three parts. In this chapter, I discuss in detail the newly adopted international tools and compare their impact on the existing regulation. In the third chapter, I try to outline new areas of interest in the field of counter- terrorism. The focus is shifted to the issues like financing of...

Organization of American States in the 21st century and its future perspectives
Motanová, Nikola ; Němec, Jan (advisor) ; Beranová, Marie (referee)
Organization of American States is world´s oldest regional organization. It was founded after the second world war and it was traditionally perceived as an instrument of the United States to pursue their interests and as means to prevent communism. Therefore many doubted the organization´s credibility and significance. Nevertheless, after the end of the Cold War reforms were adopted and the organization entered its process of transformation which continues to this day. In the context of Latin America´s emancipation, the decrease of influence of the United States and current rise of leftist governments in the region, the thesis aims to analyse how has the Organisation of American States changed since the turn of millenium, how have the said trends been reflected and in which direction is the organization evolving. The thesis also evauates the significance of the organization in the current world and outlines its future perspectives.
