Development of the Russia-OSCE Relationship

The following master's thesis focuses on the development of the position of Russia towards the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe from 1991 till 2016. The relation is examined in four periods: 1991 - 2000, 2000 - 2008, 2008 - 2012 and 2012 - 2016. Based on the theory of neoclassical realism, I analyse the relative material capabilities of Russia as the independent variable, the intervening variables and the relation of Russia as the dependent variable in each of these four periods. The thesis is elaborated as a qualitative case study while the congruence method serves as the main method for comparing the variables.

The role of the OSCE in conflict prevention

This Master Thesis focuses on one of the most significant instrument of conflict prevention in the OSCE -- the High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM). The aim of this thesis is to find out which determinants of his involvement contributed to the prevention of Civil War in the FYROM and why it failed in Kosovo. The first part looks into the theory of conflict prevention. The second chapter introduces the OSCE and focuses on function, mandate and activities of the HCNM. The third chapter analyzes and compares the involvement of the HCNM in the FYROM and Kosovo.

The Role of OSCE in Post-conflict Reconstruction of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The thesis focuses on the post-conflict reconstruction of a small Balkan state, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the emphasis on a wide-range mandate assigned by the Dayton Peace Accords to the regional security organization OSCE. The second part of the thesis takes a closer look at the main causes of the current political, economic and social crisis hindering the development of the country. Although Bosnia is a unitary country, it is strongly decentralized in most of its public life as well as political and social sectors, including the political parties, media or education system.

Possibilities of the OSCE’s reform in the context of the European security dialogue

The diploma thesis deals with the contemporary position of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in the European security architecture and, in particular, it is devoted to the assessment of the reform possibilities of this organization whose efficiency and relevance are being questioned these days. The thesis concentrates on the unique features of the OSCE as well as on the analysis of its strong and weak points and of the interests of the key players too. Previous attempts of the OSCE's reform including the most recent initiatives and proposals in a wide European security negotiations framework are also profoundly discussed. On the basis of preceding findings, summarizing conclusions are finally drawn and the thesis predicts probable scenarios concerning the future of OSCE and its reform process.

Activities of the OSCE in Kosovo

The status of Kosovo became a pretty discussed issue. In this bachelor thesis i am focused on the analysis of the activities of the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe in Kosovo. It also contains a description of the cooperation of the OSCE with other international organizations. How successful OSCE in Kosovo in building the kosovan society is, is the aim of my thesis.

Na podrobné analýze objasňuje jeho zapojení do mezinárodního kontextu na základě srovnání s Organizací spojených národů a s Evropskou unií.
