Comparison of the system for dealing with domestic violence against women in the Czech Republic and the Kingdom of Norway

The master thesis deals with a comparison of domestic violence in the Czech Republic and the Kingdom of Norway. Domestic violence is a serious problem, occurring in all societies regardless of time or culture. The thesis describes the funding system, the legislative framework of the issue, the main actors in the issue of domestic violence against women, the current situation with regard to the issue of domestic violence and the system of support both in the Czech Republic and in the Kingdom of Norway. The main objective is to describe and explain the approaches to dealing with domestic violence against women. The thesis is based on the theory of welfare state regimes, which is based on Esping-Andersen's 1990 typology of the welfare state, focusing on the concept of "women friendly" originally from 1987, as well as on the theoretical "public health approach", which focuses a lot on prevention, and is complemented by expert interviews with experts on the issues in the Czech Republic and the Kingdom of Norway. The whole thesis aims to compare approaches to violence against women in two different welfare states and to find recommendations for the Czech Republic.
