Koutný, Jiří ; Burkoň, Lukáš (advisor) ; Feuerlicht, Jiří (referee)
The goal of this work is to describe the model for providing software as a service from the perspective of enterprises, compare it with other models of providing software and present potential benefits and risks of this interesting concept. The practical part of this work includes a comprehensive guide of launching the specific SaaS application into the market. At the beginning of the work I try to define the concept of SaaS and describe its historical background. In the main chapter of the theoretical part I compare the key features of SaaS compared to traditional software in the perspective of enterprises and describe its use for specific types of applications. Theoretical part conclusion is a reflection on the future of the SaaS model, including potential problems and impacts on the ICT market. The practical part of my work describes the strategy of launching my own SaaS application called Collabim into the market. The application is used for administration and analyzing activities associated with search engine optimization (SEO). Introduction of the practical part shows the most important functions and tools of Collabim and the environment in which it has been created. Furthermore, it describes the target group, competition analysis, SWOT analysis, marketing strategy, the analysis of costs and revenues and defines the main objectives of the project. Finally I summarize current status of the project, describe the mistakes I made, and schedule all activities that must be done before Collabim market lunch. The full conclusion is devoted to the reflection on the future of the entire project.
Transformation of applications into SaaS model
Cvrček, Jaroslav ; Gála, Libor (advisor) ; Kruml, Aleš (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the definition of transformation process of the "appropriate" application into Software as a Service (SaaS) distribution model. For this purpose, it describes the SaaS model and evaluates its pros and cons in four points of view -- developer, distributor, customer and user. Following parts of the model description are an estimation of the future evolution of the SaaS model, the introduction of application SaaS Platforms and the specification of appropriate application for the SaaS model. Next chapter deals with the specifications of the application distributed in the Software as a Service model. These specifications define all needed application properties that have to be implemented in the transformation process. These specifications are for example differentiation of customer data and administration access, configuration and customization, application and data security, business and pricing model, service level agreement etc. The last chapter deals with the formulation of the transformation process of the application into SaaS model. Individual activities of the process are closely described and demonstrated on the preparation of details for the transformation of the web-based application Audit Information Tracker into SaaS model.
Mass Mailing Solution application and converting to a multi-tenant application
Suk, Miroslav ; Burkoň, Lukáš (advisor) ; Feuerlicht, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this bachelor paper is to describe possibilities of converting a specific web application for one specific client (tenant) to a web application which is accessible to more clients (tenants) at a time. One part of the paper deals with theoretical aspects of the design of multi-tenant applications, and another part is focused on the practical realization of changes in the given application. The paper is divided into seven chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the current situation and purposes of the paper. The next two chapters deal with theoretical aspects of Saas, CRM, CRM software and newsletter application. Furthermore, they deal with classification of the realized application between the CRM software and the newsletter application. The following two chapters describe the realization of the specific application from the client's requirements over design modification to the implementation itself. Chapter 6 is focused on ways of solving the web multi-tenant application design and, finally, chapter 7 is focused on choosing the best method of model application and on the proposal of procedure realization.
