Late Qajar Era and its Reflection in the Novel of Siyahat-nameh-ye Ebrahim Beg The bachelor thesis is concerned on Siyahat-nameh-ye Ebrahim Beg, the work of Persian writer Zayn al-'Abedin Maraghe'i. Prose written in the form of fictional travelogue and characterized by sharp criticism of social, political and cultural conditions of Persian society of the late Qajar era, attracted attention amongst Persia on the eve of 19th and 20th century with its strong call for reformism became an important argumentation in the dispute over modernity and tradition on the eve of constitutional revolution of 1905-1911. The presented thesis is an attempt - on the basis of critical analysis - to explore significance od Maragheh's opus, considered as one of the first fiction with satirical-critical elements in Persian literature. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first, theoretical part deals with the historical and literary development in Iran in the 19th century. The second, practical part, after a brief characterization of Siyahat-nameh, focuses on the analysis of social-critical aspects of it and on selected examples, accompanied by examples of translation from Persian to Czech, stresses the author's critical attitudes to specific social phenomenas of the period.
