The Kawa model in occupational therapy

Name of thesis: The Kawa model in occupational therapy Aim: The aim of my thesis is to translate the basis of the Kawa model, to explore its application and evaluate the experience with this model and possibilities of its use in the Czech occupational therapy practice. Method: In the theoretical part of my thesis I deal with the issue of the role of culture in occupational therapy in the context of the cultural background of the Kawa model, circumstances and motives of its origin. Further on I particularly aim at the translation and interpretation of the basis of the model needed for its use in practice. In the practical part I present the case studies of four clients with acquired brain injury with whom I tried the method of guiding individual interviews on basis of the Kawa model. The conclusion of the practical part presents the evaluation of my experiance with the model maping the positives and negatives in the connection with the possibility of its use in the czech occupational therapy practice. Results: On the basis of my theoretical studies and using the model in practice I consider that the Kawa model is the method that can be used with Czech clients. According to my conclusions the Kawa model can be a useful complementary method within the framework of occupational therapy interventions...
