The Songwriting output of Komitas Vardapet
Mkrtchyan, Varine ; MELNIK, Natalija (advisor) ; JONÁŠOVÁ, Jana (referee)
The central theme of this work is the songwriting output of the Armenian composer and intellectual Komitas Vardapet. His difficult life has played an important role in his creative life, which I describe in the first chapter. Komitas Vardapet has become famous as an ethnographer of Armenian folk music, especially songs. In this work, a parallel is made between his being and output through analysis. Thanks to his perfect knowledge of the Armenian language, his dialects, the melody, the history of the nation, and the exquisite feeling, he managed to return the Armenians to their true musical art not only in music but also in words. He has crystallized the unique songs, enticing listeners with their diversity of allegorical texts and deep experience. Some of these songs are thoroughly analyzed in this work.
