Urban study of development area Vítkovice - Moravská Ostrava

This thesis deals with development of location which lies in close distance of historical center of Moravská Ostrava. Area of interest lies on south end of city part Moravská Ostrava a Přívoz. It is defined by streets K Trojhalí, Místecká, railways no. 321 nd 323 and by Ostravice river. The main aim was to design new part of city and create a strategy of its development which reacts to the actual trends of city development. It is also crutial for creating a „bridge“ between two cultural and educational centers of the city – between historical part of Moravská Ostrava and currently forming new center in listed technical area Dolní oblast Vítkovice.

Rigorózní práce s názvem "Proměny religiozity v ještědských prózách Karoliny Světlé" se zabývá rozbory ještědských románů spisovatelky Karoliny Světlé. Prostřednictvím analýzy proměn náboženského vědomí postav a následné interpretace vystihuje charakteristiku podob lidové zbožnosti v prózách. V práci je konfrontován beletristický obraz jednotlivých forem religiozity s reálnými historickými skutečnostmi, kdy v rámci ještědských románů dochází k ověření nejpodstatnějších aspektů náboženských hledisek v "dlouhém" 19. století. Cílem práce je reflektovat vývojové proměny prozaických děl Karoliny Světlé a interpretovat je na pozadí námi stanovených problémových okruhů dobového pojetí zbožnosti a přístupů k samotné víře. The dissertation entitled "Religious Issues in Karolina Světlá's Ještěd Novels" deals with an analysis of the Ještěd Novels by the author Karolina Světlá. It characterises the depiction of vernacular devoutness in the novels by means of an analysis of the changes in the characters' religious consciousness and their subsequent interpretation. The paper confronts the fictional depiction of the various forms of religiousness with real historic facts; the most important factors of the religious positions of the "long" 19th century are verified on the scale of the Ještěd Novels. The objective of the paper is to shed light on the progressive qualitative changes in Karolina Světlá's works of prose and interpret them against the backdrop of the defined problem area, which is the period concept of devoutness and attitudes to faith as such.

Urban and architectural transformation of a former industrial site Karolina

The work deals with urban and architectural development of the industrial site Karolina in Ostrava. In terms of similar industrial areas, Karolina is outstanding in unusual location in the vicinity of the city center. On the edge of the central Moravian Ostrava was growing in the late 19th and throughout the 20th century industrial park with an area of around thirty hectares, which had an impact on the overall image of the city. The local coking plant and the near Žofínský smelter were operated until the second half of 20th century when the heavy industry started loosing its importance. With plans for the necessary redevelopment of the area was also important to show how to use the whole area in the future. Even in the end of the '60s was first few urbanistic studies. Some of them included demolition of the local buildings and also a solution for the new area look in the future. Proposals for the completion of Karolina were many, since the late '80s there were several urban planning and architectural competitions and later in 2000 even with international participation. The surprising result of forty years of development for the Karolina, eventually in 2006 became a developer competition, which notionally sealed the development of the entire area in the future.
