The Royal Box of the National Theatre

The subject of the master's thesis is the royal box at the National Theater in Prague. The diplomat elaborates in detail its construction history from the initial construction, later reconstructions and repairs. She will put the box in the context of type development and will be interpreted in terms of the meanings projected therein. Of course, there will also be analyzed in terms of functioning. The interpretation of the architectural site is supplemented by the analysis and interpretation of the iconography of painting decoration. An integral part of the work will be detailed picture documentation. František Kaván - friendship in correspondence 1894-1941, Kaván's correspondence with František Topič, Oldřich Blažíček and Ladislav Jan Živný

This diploma thesis presents compiled and edited collection of letters from the czech landscape painter František Kaván (1866-1941), a scholar of Julius Mařák's painting school, to the publisher and gallerist František Topič (1858-1941), the painter Oldřich Blažíček (1887-1953) and the librarian and bibliographer Ladislav Jan Živný (1872-1949). The edition is based on 104 letters kept in the Museum of Czech Literature in Prague and the Archives of the National Gallery in Prague. The correspondence describes a life of the painter from the year 1894 to 1941. The diploma thesis analyses and comments approachable literature and deals with relevant sources of material. Editorial comment summarizes principles and methods applied in this thesis, one part is dedicated to the editor Svatopluk Klír. The main parts are chapters based on commentary of selected passages of 104 edited documents with further relevant information in the apparatus. Fulltext edition of mentioned documents is a part of the appendix. A part of the thesis are indices and list of sources and literature. This bachelor's thesis, entitled František Kaván in sources of The Museum of Czech literature and Archives of National gallery in Prague presents compiled and edited collection of letters between František Kaván and his second wife Pavla Kavánová-Šírová. Chapter one contains and analyses all and used sources and literature. This edition is based on collection of letters stored in The Museum of Czech literature in Prague. The letters explained life of painter in period from year 1928 to 1941. Chapter two presents painter's biography which is refilled by informations from the collection of letters. Chapter three, editorial comment, informs about principles and methods of editorial work. Chapter four is the edition of 155 letters sent from Kaván to Pavla. This collection is a probe to married life of czech painter in period from 1920s to 1940s. The main goal of this bachelor's thesis is approximation of last years of his life. Kaván with his wife's help restored his regular exhibitons and became sought-after landscape painter of his period.
