Business model of entrepreneurship on internet platforms

The aim of this thesis is to assess current forms of business on internet platforms, develop their business models, and propose recommendations for this type of business. The thesis examines the most common forms while also evaluating their frequent mistakes and shortcomings. For the purpose of creating a comprehensive and specific view of these models, analyses are conducted on specific examples of platforms and companies. Furthermore, thesis proposes recommendations for improvement or elimination of these shortcomings, potentially increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of these models. The main goal of this thesis is to contribute to a better understanding of business on internet platforms, identifying key aspects of this form of business and providing specific proposals and recommendations that can help entrepreneurs and companies thrive and effectively develop their businesses.

Consumer interests in the regulation of Internet gatekeepers in EU and US competition law Abstract This thesis focuses on the regulation of Internet gatekeepers in EU and US competition law. The aim of the thesis is to compare the rules and legislative proposals on the regulation of Internet gatekeepers from the perspective of protecting the interests of end consumers. The structure of the thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to the topic of the thesis. The second chapter offers a brief insight into the relationship between competition law and consumers. This chapter outlines the history of competition law and the consumer in a broader and narrower sense. The second chapter then defines the various consumer interests that are protected by EU and US competition law - price, choice, quality and innovation. The third chapter introduces the individual pieces of legislation examined, namely the European Digital Markets Act and the US federal bills American Innovation and Choice Online Act, Platform Competition and Opportunity Act, Ending Platform Monopolies Act, ACESS Act of 2021, and Open App Markets Act. Forms of abuse of dominance in the area of the Internet platforms The thesis is dedicated to the topic of abuse of dominant position in the area of the Internet platforms. Its aim is, firstly, to outline the challenges arising from the specific nature of the area, which might, from the competition-authorities' point of view, complicate the enforcement of competition law in the case of abuse of dominance. Secondly, the thesis tries to find the answer on the question to what extent these problems have been reflected in the existing decision-making practice. The structure of the thesis is divided into four main parts. The first part is an introduction. The second part provides an essential introduction to the area in question. It defines the term "Internet platform", provides an overview of the most important types of the Internet platforms and describes the specifics of the area in question, whose description is essential for the following parts. The third part analyses the problems that competition law may face in the context of possible abuse of dominance within the meaning of Art. 102 TFEU in the area of the Internet platforms.
