The European Union from the perspective of the residents of Trhove Sviny

This work is devided into two main parts: the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part describes the development of the European integration, the formation of the European Union, institutions of the European Union, the integration of the Czech Republic into the European Union and projects in the town of Trhové Sviny, which were supported by the European Union. The practical part is based on the research, that is aimed to the comparison of the knowledge and opinions of the population in Trhové Sviny to the European Union and to the European integration. Open and closed questions are used in the questionnaire. The town of Trhové Sviny was chosen, because it is the small town located closed to the South Bohemian regional town called České Budějovice and this region is involved in European structures.
Current institutional reforms and their influence on decision-making process of the EU

The present work deals with institutional reforms executed in the context of the eastern enlargement of the European Union and their impact on decision-making process of the EU. The first part of the work outlines the evolution of the European integration process after the Second World War and contains also brief description of the basic institutional framework of decision-making process of the EU. The second part of the present work mentions particular institutional reforms executed within the context of the eastern enlargement of the EU. The emphasis here is put on the most recent change of the primary law of the EU -- the Treaty of Lisbon. The third part of the work focuses on the impacts that arise from accepting the abovementioned Treaty, especially on the impact on decision-making process in the EU, influence of the voting potencial of the Czech Republic, and on newly established capacities in the EU and their powers. This last part also deals briefly with the demographic shortage and Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
Legislation of the institutions of the European Union under the Treaty of Lisbon

The thesis focuses on the comparison of the current and precedent functioning of central organs and institutions in the European Union as the Lisbon Treaty came into effect. The thesis analyzes effected legislative changes in comparison with those in the Treaty of Nice. Furthermore the thesis deals with a characterization of the Lisbon Treaty, its form, the complicated process of ratification and entering the document into force. The final part is devoted to the practical implementing of the changes in the structures of the Union.
The Specific Features of the European Parliament's Role in the Decision-making Process of the European Union

The European Parliament has become increasingly involved in the decision-making process of the European Union over the past years. Enhancing its powers does also mean an increase of its influence on the actual activities of the Union. With regard to the position of national parliaments, the EP still differs and doesn't achieve their importance in some areas. This thesis should describe the development of the European Parliament first and define its actual organisation, structure and position within the other institutions of the European Union. The main goal is to point out the moments, which make the Parliament different from the national parliaments.
The presidency of the Council of the European Union. Comparison of Czech and French presidency.

The presidency of the Council of the European Union is a prestigious institute, who applies administrative, representative and political functions. This thesis should define the Council and its presidency and propose some theoretical hypothesis about the presidency of large and middle-sized countries. The practical comparison use as an example France and Czech republic. These two countries have ensured their presidencies successively recently. The main goal is to point out the measure of influence of political systems, duration of the membership, roles of personalities and above all size of the country.
