Origin and further development of Jesuit college in Jihlava in 17th century

Bachelor thesis deals with the Foundation of the Jesuit College in Jihlava in the 17th century. It is based mainly on the study of materials stored in the Moravian Land Archive in Brno , from which it derives information about the foundation of college and institutionally attached seminar. Furthermore, materials from State District Archive in Jihlava were used to provide information about the city of Jihlava and Jesuit Gymnasium. The first two chapters shall be understood as an introduction to the religious- political background of Early Modern Czech kingdom and its manifestations in the royal town of Jihlava, which are tematized in a period starting with the beginning of the Lutheran Reformation and ending with early recatholisation. Next chapter introduces the central theme of the work. It analyzes the process of recatholisation in Jihlava, which inherently included the sub-process of establishment of the Jesuit College happening in contrast to general economic problems of the Jihlava municipality. Following chapter deals with the last period of the Thirty Years' War, after the battle of Jankov, when the city entered the Swedish army.
