IEC 60870 communication simulation
Calábek, Tomáš ; Kohout, David (referee) ; Bohačík, Antonín (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the development and implementation of a simulator for the IEC 60870 communication standard, specifically for IEC 60870-5-101 and 104 protocols. The aim is to create a unified control interface capable of simulating both the client and server side of these protocols, which are essential in the energy sector for reliable and efficient communication between devices. The theoretical part of the thesis provides a detailed study of IEC 60870 protocols, SCADA system and equipment operation in the power sector. It also considers the comparison of IEC 60870 with other standards used in the power sector. The practical part includes the design and implementation of a simulator that allows for complex control, including the configuration of the output data flow (e.g. data/query periodicity or range of values generated). The final part of the work deals with testing and comparison of the simulator with another solution.
Implementation of Smart Electricity Meters in an Energy Polygon
Kopřiva, Lukáš ; Benešl, Lukáš (referee) ; Kohout, David (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis is focused on the design and realization of communication branch for energy polygon. In the theoretical part of this thesis is descibed electric power transmission of the Czech republic, theory of standards DLMS/COSEM and IEC 60870, which are important for making of communication branch. In this part is also described existing energy polygon on BUT. Into this existing polygon is the communication branch implemented. Part of theorecical part is describtion of the data transfer design between the mentioned standards. In practical part were made program for reading data from smart electricity meters and their subsequent transmission to SCADA system. Part of the practical part is also breakdown of captured communication, which represents normal traffic of the communication branch.
Management of the energy transmission system polygon
Bohačík, Antonín ; Musil, Petr (referee) ; Blažek, Petr (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the creation of a control interface for a polygon simulating the electrical distribution network of the Czech Republic, where communication between substations is realized by IEC 60870-5-104 protocol. The theoretical part of the thesis explains the basic principles, properties and possibilities of communication standards IEC 60870 and IEC 61850. The next part is focused on the actual implementation and subsequent implementation of the control interface, including the implementation of the IEC 61850-80-1 module for data transfer between the mentioned standards. The last part describes the created behavior scenarios or the analysis of communication itself.
Cyber-environment for systems of ICS/SCADA type
Váňa, Martin ; Blažek, Petr (referee) ; Fujdiak, Radek (advisor)
The thesis explores the problematics of cyber environment for the ICS/SCADA systems. First, shorter section is mainly focused on general introduction into the ICS/SCADA systems and their inner workings. Communication model of a general SCADA system and its foundational elements are explained. It is mainly theoretical passage and it serves as an introduction. It is necessary for understanding the second part which is mainly practical. The appropriate system is chosen as a first thing in the practical part of the thesis for the implementation of the whole project. There are defined criteria on which the system itself is implemented. Following that the system itself is implemented under a framework called openMUC and it is tested with help of the simulators according to the objective of the thesis.
Identification of Device Availability in Technological Networks
Vodehnal, Stanislav ; Mlýnek, Petr (referee) ; Škorpil, Vladislav (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the monitoring of network elements of technological networks and distribution systems. There are described reasons why and what kind of values we want to monitor. Three monitoring systems are then selected, described their properties and functions. Based on their merits, one system for deploying the test environment is selected. The practical part is the configuration of the selected system and its subsequent deployment to the network.
Cyber security tester of elements used in industrial networks and energy industry
Březina, Jiří ; Mlýnek, Petr (referee) ; Lieskovan, Tomáš (advisor)
The following is a detailed discussion of the communication protocols that work in these networks, from the older and more industrially based Modbus protocol, through the IEC 60870 protocol suite, to the most commonly used protocol today, DLMS/COSEM. The paper also summarizes the most common current attack patterns on DLMS/COSEM protocol vulnerabilities. The thesis aims to implement a tester that tests the security of smart grid elements mainly on the vulnerabilities described in the thesis. The tester primarily focuses on the vulnerabilities of overwhelm and replay attacks and evaluating the execution of these attacks in a laboratory environment.
