Kotrbatá, Karolína ; Šorfová, Monika (advisor) ; Heller, Jan (referee)
A loss of a lower body extremity affects all parts of life. Essentially mobility is limited, that is projected into occupational, social and leisure activities. Consequence can be psychological disorders and even in the worst case social isolation. Therefore, it is important to follow up quality of life of people with lower body extremity amputation, label problematic areas and prioritise their solution comprehensive rehabilitation. Thesis summary includes general information of amputation, their consequences and prosthetics. Factors, which can affect life quality of lower body extremity amputees, were also included. Simultaneously was done a collection and description of questionnaires of this certain population. In the thesis was used a method of reverses translation of TAPES-R questionnaire and then applied to lower body extremity amputees in the Czech Republic. Results were analysed. Those indicate, that the majority of problems occur in hobby and sport sphere. Another limitations were shown in employment, prosthesis comfort and occurrence of phantom or other pains. Results did not confirm hypothesis of existence of a link between prior past since amputation and lowering frequency of phantom difficulties or perception of own physical abilities during increasing time period since amputation....
Quality of life of patients with stenosis of aortic valve
ŠVECOVÁ, Valentyna
This bachelor thesis is focused on the quality of life of patients operated for aortic valve stenosis. The aim of the thesis was to describe and compare the quality of the patients´ lives before the replacement of the native aortic valve with a mechanical or a biological valve to the state three months after the surgery. The research was done in the Cardio-Centre of the Hospital České Budějovice, a. s. The patients of the Cardio-Centre represented the studied group and were selected using the simple deliberate selection method. The research itself was done using the ?postal survey? method, i.e. without the assistance of the professional staff. Two hypotheses were established: Hypothesis 1 (H1): The quality of life of the patients suffering from aortic valve stenosis is negatively affected in the evaluated domains of HRQoL; Hypothesis 2 (H2): The quality of life of the patients with aortic valve stenosis is better three months after the surgery than before the surgery. Health related quality of life was studied using the quantitative research method based on the Short-Form SF-36 questionnaire, Generic type, in the HRQoL methodology in eight domains: physical functions, physical limitations in role activities, emotional limitations in role activities, physical and emotional limitations in social activities, pain, mental health, vitality, general perception of health status. The received data were converted into the electronic form using the related software that assessed the average score of the quality of life correlative of the state of health. The results before and after the replacement of the aortic valve were compared mutually and also to the international standard of HRQoL. The results have helped to prove that surgical replacement of the native aortic valve results in an improvement of the quality of the patients lives. It has been proved through the research that the quality of life had been improved in all domains, what confirmed the H2 hypothesis ? i.e. the quality of life of the patients with aortic valve stenosis is better three months after the surgery than before the surgery. It has been also discovered that the quality of life of the patients with aortal valve stenosis is significantly lower than the quality of life in health population represented by the results of the Oxford research. This confirmed the H1 hypothesis ? i.e. the quality of life of the patients suffering from aortic valve stenosis is negatively affected in the evaluated domains of HRQoL. The bachelor thesis may be of benefit to the cardio-centres and the cardiology departments. The results of the research may contribute to better understanding of the patients by the staff, to improve the hospital care and to widen the patients´ knowledge of this fact. A colloquium for the nursing staff aimed at the quality of life of patients suffering from a cardiovascular disease could be organized. The thesis may also be used to stimulate further research in comparing the quality of life dependent on different types of replacements or on the age of the patients.
Effect of Spa Therapy on Quality of Life and Consumption of Drugs in Patients Aged 35-50 Years with Musculoskeletal Disease.
NOUZOVÁ, Jitka
This bachelor thesis titled ?The Effects of Spa Treatment on the Quality of Life and the Consumption of Drugs in Patients Aged 35 to 50 Years with Musculoskeletal Disease? deals, in the first chapters of the theoretical part, with the history and current status of balneology, individual spa treatments, and the importance of spa treatments in treating musculoskeletal diseases. The other chapters deal with health, the quality of life, its measurement and evaluation. Within the thesis, two goals were set: (a) to find out the effects of spa treatment on the quality of life and (b) to monitor the effects of spa treatment on the consumption of drugs in patients aged 35 to 50 years with musculoskeletal disease who were clients of Bertiny lázně in Třeboň. For fulfil the objectives of the thesis, the method interviewing was applied using standardized questionnaire SF-36 about the health related quality of life, which is suitable for finding out about the influence of spa therapy on the quality of life and health state of spa treatment clients. The respondents were examined prior their spa treatment, i.e. immediately after coming to Bertiny lázně in Třeboň, and then 3 months after the spa treatment, using the method of ?postal survey?. The results of this thesis show that the health state of patients with musculoskeletal disease improved after completing spa treatment, most distinctly in the domain of pain relief (30%) and in the vitality domain (26%). The consumption of drugs saw only minimal changes. Based on the results obtained, we can clearly say that spa treatment contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of patients with musculoskeletal disease and it also clearly points to the effectiveness of finance invested in balneology.
Health related quality of life (HRQoL) in drug addicts and their dependents in relation to gender.
ZLATUŠKOVÁ, Vendula
I focus my bachelor thesis on ascertaining the life quality of drug-addicted persons and their family members. The goal of my work is to document, with standardized methods, the differences in their perception of life quality compared with healthy population and to try to analyze differences in both sexes. The following hypotheses were set: H1: Life quality of drug-addicted persons and their families is lower than that of general population. H2: Life quality of drug-addicted persons and their family members differs depending on their sexes. Quantitative character method was selected for the research part, using the SF-36 standardized questionnaire of health-conditioned life quality. The resulting research shows considerable difference of the observed sample of drug-addicted persons compared to European Oxford standard in 8 domains. The perception of life quality by family members is also different in all domains, statistically significant at 5% level of significance, which confirms the hypothesis H1 in full extent. The comparison of perception of life quality by drug-addicted men versus drug-addicted women shows only slight differences. The same applies to family members; therefore that difference appears statistically insignificant, under 5% level of significance. So I can disprove the hypothesis H2. The thesis presents compact survey of the issue of life quality of drug-addicted persons and their family members, trying to give a base for further work with them, particularly in social-therapeutic area.
Quality of life of applicants for long-term study visa in the South Bohemia region
HANKOVÁ, Hana
Bachelor thesis deals with "Quality of life of applicants for long-term study visa in the South Bohemia region". The main objective was to identify if the quality of foreign students studying in the Czech Republic changes during the long stay in the Czech Republic and if so, how this is expressed. The thesis is divided into two sections {--} theoretical and practical. The theoretical part consists of three chapters. The first chapter deals with quality of life in general, its history, definitions and possibilities of scoring the quality of life. The second section outlines chances of foreigners at the entry and stay in the Czech Republic. The third summarizes activities of foreigners in our country since the foundation of the Czech Republic until now, their numbers and education. At the beginning of the empirical section the goal is set is hypotheses are stated, followed by the research process description and the means used to confirm or refute hypotheses. The resulting values are clearly explained and presented in the form of graphs and tables. Data obtained from the research are being confronted in subsequent discussion. The goal of the thesis is to determine how the quality of life of foreign students differs from European standards, and whether it gets changed in the course of the long-term residence in the Czech Republic. To meet the goals of this thesis the method of standardized questionnaire SF-36 on health-related quality of life, which measures eight domains of health, was used. The outcomes of the research prove that quality of life of foreign students is different in comparison with the European standard Oxford. It was also shown that the quality of life during the long-term residence in the Czech Republic decreases in the domains of physical functioning, role limitations due to physical problems, role limitations due to emotional problems, social functioning and pain, while an increase occurs in the category of general mental health, vitality and general perception of health.
Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) of dialysis patients, with regard to age
VANCLOVÁ, Romana
The dissertation entitled ?Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) in Dialysed Patients with Respect to Age? contains a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes chronic kidney disorder and the treatment of this disease. It mentions the causes, repercussions and complications of this disease. It also suggests the form of treatment as the method of replacing the function of the kidneys which includes haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and transplantation. I have attempted to elaborate their principle, history and current form, benefits, negative aspects and complications. The practical part describes the actual research. Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) was ascertained in a group of patients undergoing haemodialysis at one dialysis centre. Questionnaire SF 36 was used which allows for a quantified assessment of the quality of life in eight domains. The results were statistically assessed and clearly depicted using tables and graphs. The quality of life was compared in the monitored group with the general population and also based on age and gender. The results found show a reduced quality of life of dialysed patients compared with the standard population. A difference was also found in the assessment of the quality of life in some age groups. No difference in results was proved with regard to gender.
