Kopáč, Ondřej ; Grenar, David (referee) ; Čučka, Milan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with description and simulation of Michelson unbalance interferometer and description of fiber optic sensors. The simulation is realized by MatLab. The thesis also described basic optical phenomena, types of optical fibers and two types of interferometric detection. The thesis also deals with description of measurements and their results.
Data processing from fibre optic temperature sensors
Carboch, David ; Tomašov, Adrián (referee) ; Dejdar, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is dealing with fiber optic sensor systems, their division and properties. Furthermore, the thesis discusses the possibilities of fiber optic measurements in the nuclear power environment. Then the thesis contains possible methods of temperature measurement and their comparison. The thesis deals with the design of the sensing probe. Through the probe, the mechanical resistance of the sensing fiber and the handling of the sensing fiber have been improved. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the creation of an interactive chart of the relative temperature of a nuclear reactor in real time. In the chart, the dependence of reactor temperature change on reactor power and air temperature change can be observed. The measured results can be exported from the chart.
Study of the influence of geometrical parameters of phase binary gratings on their optical response for the preparation of optical fiber sensors
Krátký, Stanislav ; Kolařík, Vladimír ; Mikel, Břetislav ; Helán, R. ; Urban, F.
For exposure to optical fibers through a phase grating, it is necessary to tune the geometrical parameters of the grating very well. In this paper, we study the effect of the grating period, grating diameter, grating depth, and polarisation of the incident laser beam on the efficiency of diffraction orders. A suitably tuned grating generates diffraction orders with the desired efficiency, thereby guaranteeing the formation of the desired motif in the exposed optical fiber.
Optical fibers for measuring ionizing radiation
Jelínek, Michal ; Mikel, Břetislav
Optical fiber ionising radiation measurements cannot be used to continuously measure high-energy ionising radiation, especially gamma radiation. Previously presented sensors and methods use optical fibers with a scintillator on/inside the fiber, optical fibers doped with a scintillator, etc. These methods are not suitable for measuring high-energy radiation mainly due to low efficiency. Therefore, we present a measurement method where optical fibers are used only to transport the scintillation radiation to the shielded detection electronics.
Simulation And Measurement Of Mach-Zehnder Interferometer
Cucka, Milan ; Salik, Pavol
The paper focuses on simulation and measurement of Mach-Zehnder interferometer. This type of sensor is used as a distributed fiber optic sensor for sensing vibration, mechanical tension and temperature. Fiber optic sensors based on optical interferometry are now widely used, e.g. Sagnac interferometer in optic gyroscopes. Mach-Zehnder interferometer is used for measurement of transformers temperature. The article includes a simulation of interferometric systems in VPIphotonics simulation software and it also includes scientific notation of a signal and a short description of the used simulation systems.
Spectral Change Based Optical Sensors
Eliáš, Josef
This paper is focused on optical sensors based on spectral characteristics change. Optical sensors are widely used for industrial, robust and noise proof measurement. There are measurement techniques for mechanical tension, temperature, pressure, displacement, vibration and so on. This article provides brief description of selected optical sensors based on Fabry-Perot and fiber Bragg grating principle. The article includes basic sensor description, theory of operation and measurement setup and expected measurement ranges and resolutions.

Special optical fibers and optical fiber sensors in Institute of Scientific Instruments of the CAS
Jelínek, Michal ; Mikel, Břetislav
Optical fiber sensors are applied in many industrial sectors. Great development of fiber optic sensors was focused to using fiber Brag gratings in the last years. Nowadays the primary focus is aimed to development fiber optic sensors using Raman or Brillouin scattering and microstructural fibers. Different types of optical sensors are currently used in many industrial sector from telecommunications, automotive, aerospace, oil industry to nuclear power systems and other critical infrastructures. We present our research of optical fiber sensors uses new technologies of measurements and optical fibers preparation.
