Využití WebQuests ve výuce anglického jazyka

The bachelor thesis deals with WebQuests and their use in English language teaching. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the concept of a WebQuest and describes its origin, criteria for its creation, their recommended structure, and types of WebQuests. More specifically, it also describes how WebQuests help to develop language skills in the areas of communication, reading, writing, and listening. The practical part of this bachelor thesis includes four English WebQuests designed for the 8th and 9th grade students of elementary school. The WebQuests are in a suitable form for teaching as they contain instructions for the students and basic instructions for the teachers along with the assessment criteria. WebQuests are created in four different software applications and all of them are in English. To check the appropriateness of the language level of these WebQuests, I cooperated with my sister, who is the age of the target group of students. The topics of the created WebQuests are based on common life situations that the students may encounter, which increases their motivation to learn. An important element of these WebQuests is the interdisciplinary overlap and the development of language and other skills that can be used in real life.
Incorporating gender issues into EFL lessons

The purpose of this thesis is to design, implement and evaluate lessons oriented towards gender issues. The theoretical part of this thesis introduces the topic of gender and places it in the school context. It addresses gender-sensitive education and the courses of action by which gender issues can be integrated into teaching. Furthermore, this part deals with the methodology of content-based approaches. Finally, it presents the lesson planning process based on the Six-Ts method and lesson reflection using the ALACT model. The practical part consists of planning sample lessons and designing students' worksheets, both oriented towards gender issues. The sample lessons were consequently piloted in Business Academy Heroldovy Sady. The evaluation of their progress is also included in this section, together with practical recommendations for similar lessons based on personal teaching experience. Lastly, the thesis notes that teachers of English and other foreign languages can raise awareness of gender issues in their lessons while developing students' language skills. The thesis is enriching as it finds solutions to integrate gender topics into English language teaching and provides examples of this practice. AJ-NJ DIPLOMA THESIS Use of film applications in English language teaching: Case study of the mobile application Mooveez Abstract This diploma thesis concerns with analysis of the software application Mooveez - English with movies which offers a new method of learning foreign languages by watching movies, fairy tale movies or documentaries. In the theoretical part the theory and methodology of current learning and teaching foreign languages is described as well as the development of education in the field of foreign languages. The theoretical part also contains information about modern technologies used in contemporary foreign language learning and teaching. The practical part depicts and evaluates the software application Mooveez in detail which includes its principles, origin, methodology and functions. This part also informs about the usage of Mooveez as a tool and as a method. Then, it is described how this application is presented in public, and whether there are other applications which could be compared with the application Mooveez - English with movies.
