Wonder&Wander
Porubský, Aleš ; Zapletal,, Aleš (referee) ; Mikyta, Svätopluk (advisor)
In the Bachelor's thesis entitled Wonder&Wander I loosely follow up on my previous work, in which I work with the themes of alterego, escapism, self-mythologization and . The work deals with an imaginative world in which I work with characters who are heroes and guides at the same time. Wonder&Wander follows heroes and guides in various situations, environments and moods, which are a reflection of my reality and personal experiences. The paintings of this cycle are thematically about fleetingness, melancholy, abandonment, searching, wandering, feeling the world and inner changes. An important theme of this series is the motif of the journey, which has multiple meanings for me: the journey as a solution to problems, the journey as a search, the journey as a preparation, the journey as an environment for changes... The work Wonder&Wander is divided into two parts in order to create a certain duality of reading of the themes, which are present in the motifs of the images. In the first part, I focused on the landscape and the motif of the journey as such, while in the second part, which consists of portraits, I try to amplify the sense of urgency of the mentioned themes.
The Roundness of the Crystal
MOLÍKOVÁ, Veronika
The thesis uncovers latent relations binding Maurice Merleau-Ponty´s theory of perception and Gaston Bachelard´s theory of reverie. Through finding the common basis of both modes of experiencing the world - through outlining the interaction of the flesh and imagination whose purpose was to clarify Bachelard´s confused, nontransparent concept of r?verie - the thesis focuses on the works by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. The brief interpretation aims to look at Munch´s work through the prism of Bachelard´s especially elemental oneiric pictures and follow their "crystallization" both in literary and fine arts line. Fundamental root system nourishing "the corpus of the explanation" becomes a dialectic of heights and precipices (it is treated in Bachelard´s books Air and dreams and Earth and Reveries of Will) whose tension, which is like an invisible stream, imprints the rhythm to whole Munch´s magnum opus. Thus, both the motive of vertigo and the mirror glint of the fear of fall, the motive of lust for disembodiment, release from the confinement of "metabolism", liberation from "incarnation of the subject" takes a relevant position in this vertical range. The final chapter then literally "completes the circle" by the insight of phenomenology of roundness. The phenomenon of a line becomes a relevant medium that sketches links of both halves of the thesis and through which a defence of vision as in essence performative act is constructed. The character of line acquires the value of a key unlocking possibility to apply the Bachelardian method to the art of visual type, uncovers implicit possibility of epiphany of oneiric pictures in fine arts - it shows, that painting is not spiritless flat dispassionate mimesis, but it contents affective invisible dimension.
Comparison of Expressionist Works by Emil Filla and Oskar Kokoschka
ALEKSEEVA, Arina
Emil Filla and Oskar Kokoschka are important artists who have left a great influence on 20th century art. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to attempt to formulate the same and different qualities of the expressionist work of Emil Filla and Oskar Kokoschka. The work tries to map and describe these paintings, but the main emphasis is on the starting points of this artistic direction. In addition, it will be necessary to define the general definition of expressionism and its development in the context of Central Europe.
Edvard Munch- more that creator of "The Scream"
RAFF, Alisa
The bachelor's work named "Edvard Munch - more, than the creator of "The Scream"cosists of the theoretical and the practical parts. The theoretical part explores life and art of one of the most important Norwegian artists - Edvard Munch. The important part is, where some of artist's selected works are being analysed, especially the painting "The Scream". In the practical part, the knowledge of the artist's techniques is being applied, and using that basis the final sketches and the acrylic painting are made.
