Financial Crisis in Economies with External Imbalances: A Comparative Analysis of Ireland and Spain

The financial crisis of 2007-08 has had momentous consequences for most developed countries and triggered recession on the global financial markets. Consequently, economies with pre- existing deficiencies were hit in particular. In the European Union, especially two groups of member states with specific imbalances could be discerned. This thesis is intended to discuss the impacts on economies with external imbalances, where the crisis was not rooted in public finance profligacy. The main protagonists, Ireland and Spain, experienced resembling economic boom prior to the crisis, later accompanied by accumulation of foreign debt and real estate bubbles. Nonetheless, despite the strong similarities in their economic development their paths diverged after the bust, and Ireland has been given as an example for successful austerity. This thesis presents key determinative factors which differentiated Spain from Ireland in the reviving processes to discuss the hypothesis that the Irish recovery was generated solely by the implemented countermeasures and that it can therefore be considered a model for future crisis management. The role of American car manufacturers in the German economy in the 30's of the 20th century

Bachelor thesis deals with the role of US subsidiaries of automotive companies in the revival of German national socialist economy in the 30's of the 20th century. Its aim is to clarify whether these companies have played a key role on the German car market. The thesis is chronically divided into three main parts. The first part deals with the blossom of the automotive industry in Germany and the US market in the 20's. It also describes the entry of US companies on the German market. The second part examines the automotive industry in Germany in 30's. It focuses on the major automobile manufacturers on the market and examines their role in the preparations for World War II. This section explains in particular the role of US subsidiaries and their role in the rearmament of Nazi Germany. It also deals with Volkswagen concept. The last part describes the position of car manufacturers during and immediately after World War II. The thesis proves the important role of US car manufacturers in the German economy in the 30's of the 20th century and exemplifies their role in the rearmament of Germany before and during World War II.

Economic development of Japan between 1945-1952

This work deals with the economic reforms in the postwar Japan. The country was under the American occupation after the surrender. In the beginning I would like to target closely postwar situation in Japan and Douglas MacArthur's enter into the Japanese politics. Subsequently I would take a close look at the economic recovery and the reformations. I'll mention the Korean War and its consequences to Japan. Then I'll write about the recovery of Japanese economy in the 1950s. Finally I'll describe some factors important for quick economic recovery of Japan and I'll outline the late economic development.
