Barcode Localization in Image

The barcode localization is an important prerequisite for its reading. This work deals with the barcode localization in an image. This thesis briefly describes the meaning of barcodes, principles and algorithms of its localization. The main part of this work is concentrated on analysis, concept and implementation of the new localization method. The proposed approach is based on the observation of changes in the intensity profile. Due to this method is fast and accurate. In order to test the rate of success of the algorithm, set of five hundred pictures has been taken. The result is the implementation suitable for real-time usage in the barcode reader application.

This bachelor thesis addresses the process of creating a mobile application to support self-study and tutoring using mobile devices with an iOS operation system and the use of web API for working with data. Part of the thesis is the descrip- tion of the issues of publishing offer and demand of study materials and tutoring. Furthermore, this thesis contains an overview and comparison of available solutions used by users for publication, offer and demand study materials and tutoring. The main goal of the bachelor thesis is to offer a solution for mobile device users with iOS operation system that will enable them to publish, in one place, offer and de- mand study materials and tutoring. Unlike the competitors, this solution offers the possibility of scanning barcodes of printed study materials for automatic filing of information such as author or ISBN.

Packaging and Its Influence on the Effectiveness on Logistic Operations

The topic of my work is packaging and its influence on the effectiveness of logistic operations. The main aim of my diploma work was an analysis of portfolio of products of a packaging industry which enters distributive chains in the sphere of an elected sortiment group from the point of view of their applicability for logistic operations. I acquired information for elaborating this work from the company Schenker, Ltd., Jamall, Inc. and next from shopping chains. I compared pallets which are used by the company Schenker in logistics. In the company Jamall I dealt with a portfolio of furniture and its influence on effectiveness of logistic operations. In shopping chains I dealt with the matter of conveniency or inconviency of packaging of non-alcoholic beverages. Next I applied a properly elaborated questionnaire aimed at environment and packaging. I applied the method of observation, controlled interview, analysis of documents, processing data from the operations register file and questionnaire investigation for acquiring necessary information. I made a conclusion that a proper choice of packaging has an essential influence on lowering costs involving storage, manipulation and transport.

Logistické technologie se zaměřením na ECR v řetězcích obchodního typu

Práce rozebírá logistické technologie, podrobněji Efficient Consumer Response. Zabývá se příčinami vzniku, stručnou historií, prvky, přínosy pro podniky a implementací ECR v podniku. Cílem práce je ukázat, jak ECR funguje a jak je uplatňováno v praxi u výrobních i obchodních společností, jak ECR vnímají koneční zákazníci, a jak by při zavádění technologie měly postupovat podniky, které s ECR nemají zkušenosti.
