Complex database solution design for Gemini ophtalmology clinic
Kadlec, Jakub ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Sramka, Martin (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to provide a complex analysis and database solution design for Gemini ophtalmology clinic in Zlín, Czech Republic. The clinic handles a large amount of data on a daily basis being used by doctors, administrative workers, but as an essential background dataset by robotic surgical machines as well. Currently, the data is being transmitted via physical data files, which inevitably goes with a big probability of subjective errors and data redundancy. The analysis has been based on multiple interviews with Gemini's IT personnel and the models are result of throughout research of clinic's business and information processes. At the beginning of the thesis, there is a theoretical introduction to database analysis and design, followed by a complex database solution design, including features from object-relational database systems which can be helpful considering that the database will be connected to the robotic surgical machines. Their programmatic interface is written in C#, which is an object oriented language, and the thesis describes ways how object features in otherwise fully relational database can result in easier and more straightforward data manipulation. As a result, this bachelor thesis could serve as an inspiration in modernizing technology infrastructure design in a field which is very conservative and is adapting modern approach very slowly.
Eurostat
Žofková, Eliška ; Komárková, Lenka (advisor) ; Krejčová, Iva (referee)
The thesis describes the history, structure and function of Eurostat in the European Union. Furthermore, it deals with the Eurostat database and maps the field for which the European statistical data are publicly available. It also discusses the topic of population and its health conditions in more depth and based on the data obtained from the Eurostat it examines the position of the Czech Republic within the European Union.
Brownfields in the various regions of the Czech Republic
MARŠÍČKOVÁ, Kamila
This thesis is focused on brownfields in Czech regions. Thesis is divided into theorical and practical part and explains key terms such as brownfields. Thesis describes development of brownfields, their consequences and suggets possible solutions of the situation. Thus there are outlined reasons of their revitalization, obstruction and benefits of regeneration. To regenerate brownfields it is demanded to gain financial support, that´s why in the thesis there are highlighted options of funding from household or private resources, as well as from structural funds. Finally, the thesis includes several documents related to brownfields. The beginning of practical part introduces national and regional databates. Each region of the Czech republic is briefly characterized with its quantity of brownfields, their previous usage and there are outlined regional activities to tackle brownfields. Thesis includes a sort of possesion, the rate of environmental burden and reccommendations for future utilization
The possibilities of automated extraction of data from publicly available sources
Jelínek, Martin ; Maryška, Miloš (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (referee)
The theoretical part of this work describes some options that can be used to retrieve data from different information sources. It also discusses the possibility of automatic data processing and tools and technologies that can be used to do this. Mainly technologies which can be used to store acquired data and to analyze them. This includes description of different types of databases or data mining methods. The practical part of this work is devoted to the creation of an application for automatic downloading of articles from news sites. The application allows you to download articles from selected news sites, and save parsed article text into a file and additional information to the database. The purpose of the application is mainly collecting data that can be used for further analysis . The application allows searching in downloaded articles using keywords, create topic groups from articles and monitor articles history. This allows for example to monitor possible differences between articles whitch belongs to the same topic and were downloaded from different news sites or to monitor progress in some topic. Another motivation is archiving of old articles for further analysis, because the articles on news sites are constantly changing.
Comparison between Web of Science and Scopus
Laiblová Kadlecová, Ivana ; Tomanová, Hana ; Meixner, Jaroslav
Document content is comparing and analyzing of two greatest citated sources, Web of Science (Thomson Reuter) and SCOPUS (Elsevier). Both products are monitored from view of chronological and contentual amount searching possibilities, consecutive work with retrieved data and comprehensive user friendly searching system. Benefits and misssing parts in both information sources are mentioned.
Evaluation of R&D institutions
Cahlík, T. ; Pessrová, Hana
The Czech Council for R&D developed a new version of the Methodic for the Evaluation of R&D. In this paper, we discuss especially three criteria from this Methodic: publications in impacted journals, publications in other scientific refereed journals, and evaluation of publications with more authors.
S4P - program praktického využití poznatků badatelského výzkumu
Dobiáš, Ivan
The S4P programme of the Engineering Academy of the Czech Republic concentrates on new research knowledge transfer into industry and applications. Beside the research information system the S4P programme also includes other activities of the EACR, e.g. education, publications nad conferences on knowledge transfer.
Comparison of the possibilities of object-oriented and relational databases
Šolar, Tomáš ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (referee)
This thesis presents the theoretical description of relational and object-oriented databases, including the underlying basic concepts. The paper briefly describes the specific database systems according to various categories. Work tries to look at all the facts in general terms therefore does part of it explain other database principles. On the example of a small library the paper displays the strengths and weaknesses of both principles. Later the paper describes more thoroughly the Caché database system, which can be addressed by both principles. The difference between object and relational approach is then shown in this environment. The goal is therefore to provide side information about the various principles, define the differences in categories and then show the problems on a practical example. Further clarify the specific database system and try to demonstrate the previously defined categories in this environment. One's own contribution to the treated subject can be found in different approaches of the specific models, the comparison of the two approaches on particular examples, the examination of the selected database system and conducting a comparison of the principles in the Caché environment.
