KOUBOVÁ, Michaela
This diploma thesis deals with a rare skin condition called Ichthyosis which is, for the majority of the population, unknown. It is a rare genetic disease that is manifested via a different skin look and a bad bodily thermoregulation. The aim of this thesis is to map out the specific needs in the lives of children suffering from this disease and to point out the aspects of life quality for children thus diagnosed and their families, too. The theoretical part deals with the history, diagnosis, symptom description, the causes of origin as well as care for an individual suffering from this illness. To fulfil the aims of the practical part qualitative research was chosen in the design of a case study focused on a description of complex care and subjective understanding of quality of life in addressed individuals suffering from the given illness and their families.
Keeping oral hygiene while taking complex care of seniors
ŠTĚCHOVÁ, Pavla
The topic of this bachelor thesis is Keeping oral hygiene while taking complex care of seniors. Count of seniors that have dental problems or don't have teeth at all increases according to specialized literature (Pacovský, 1994). The most frequent causes of that are growing motoric and cognitive issues at the old age but also increasing dependency of the hospitalized seniors on the nursing staff. Oral hygiene is also often done incorrectly (Kubíčková, 2012), or in a minimal scale only. Having poor oral hygiene can lead to a variety of problems, e.g. tooth decay, tooth plaque or tartar (Preclíková, 2015). This bachelor thesis has two targets. The first one is finding differences in oral hygiene practising at mobile, partly immobile and completely immobile seniors and the second one is finding reasons for poor oral hygiene at seniors. Based on these two targets, three research questions were established. The first one is: What differences are there in good oral hygiene practising at mobile, partly immobile and completely immobile seniors? The second research question: What are the reasons for these differences in good oral hygiene practising at seniors? The last, third question: How is oral hygiene practised by nurses at mobile, partly immobile and completely immobile seniors? The research part of this thesis uses qualitative research method. To get necessary data for further processing of the research part of this thesis, the participant observation method was used. The observation was done in various wards of medical institutions in the South Bohemia Region. The observed data is recorded in recording sheet (Appendix 1). It is processed by coding method and divided into seven categories and several subcategories. The second part of the research uses method of unstructured and semi-structured interviews with patients seniors, to complete and verify collected data. Each interview is recorded with agreement of patients and its transcript is documented (Appendix 2). Collected data is encrypted according to internal similarity of particular codes that are marked in colours in the transcripts (Appendix 3). Results of this research show that the lowest quality of oral hygiene is provided to immobile patients seniors. The results also show differences in provided care in each of the observed wards. Regarding the fact that this thesis is based on my experience with poor oral hygiene, I found out that the conclusion indicates oral hygiene practising at patients seniors, but the quality, level and scope are lower than they should be. The thesis reveals also other lacks that should have higher importance and should not be ignored.
Comlex rehabilitative care for pre-school children passing curative stays
KREJČÍ, Andrea
Complex rehabilitative care for pre-school children undergoing c urative stays is the care of which the main task is to promote the health of a child as a whole or, if impaired, to bring it back to normal. A child sanatorium is a health care facility providing long-term preventive care for child patients through its complex therapeutic and rehabilitative methods during the child{\crq}s entire curative stay. It strives for reaching the optimum health condition of a child and for the elimination of possible fallouts. Curative stays are recommended by pediatricians. Generally, curative stays are designed for children between 3 and 15 years of age. They are covered by all health insurance companies. The aim of the thesis was to find out the current possibilities of the use of curative stay offers in the Czech Republic and how the offer of such stays is used, specifically in the mountainous climatic conditions. Also, the work aimed at the factors leading to the fact that some children use the curative stays repeatedly. In order to gather the necessary data to define the aim of the thesis, the method of questionnaire was used and the technique of written questionnaire was used to collect the data. The research used parents and other relatives of the pre-school children who at least once participated in the curative stay together with their child or children. The research was conducted at the Child Sanatorium of Javorník in Šumava during the months of January and February 2007. The hypothesis based on the presumption that the opportunity to use the offer of curative stays for pre-school children is influenced mostly by socio-economic factors was not confirmed. It has been detected that the physicians play an important role in this field. The second hypothesis concerning the repetitive use of the curative stays offer as not being directly linked to the curative effect of the previous stays was also not confirmed because the reasons leading the guardian escort to the decision to send the child or children for a repetitive curative stay are directly linked to the fact that the recently undergone stay has helped the health condition of their child or children.
