Efektivita společností automobilového průmyslu v EU
Novosadová, Šárka
The thesis deals with the estimation and evaluation of efficiency of the companies operating within the automotive industry in the European Union. Due to its im-portance for many economies, the theoretical part of the thesis describes the cur-rent situation of this sector and more attention is also paid to the concept of effi-ciency and productivity. In the empirical part, by using output and input variables, Stochastic frontier analysis was selected to measure the efficiency of the automo-tive firms. Source annual accounting data of the companies was obtained from the Orbis database from 2014 to 2017. The models were estimated using different out-put variables and different random component distributions. Attention was also paid to the efficiency of the selected companies and to the possible impact of the company size on its efficiency. Using Pearson and Spearman correlation coeffi-cients, it has been found that the distribution of the random component and the choice of different output variables did not affect the efficiency and resulting rank-ing of the companies. On average, larger companies achieved greater efficiency in the reporting period.
Produkčné funkcie pre sektor výstavby budov v štátoch Vyšehradskej štvorky
Nezbeda, Martin
Nezbeda, M. Production Functions for the Construction of Buildings Sector of the Visegrad Four. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2019. The bachelor thesis deals with the estimation of parameters of both Cobb-Douglas and Sato production functions by using linear and nonlinear techniques. The object of examination is the Construction of buildings sector in the years 2015 and 2016. The outcomes of this thesis are estimated models as well as maps of isoquants that are interpreted by economic theory. The resulting findings are compared with similar empirical studies.
Produkční funkce v makroekonomii
Koláčková, Adéla
Diploma thesis is concerned with production functions and their utilization in macroeconomics. Theoretical part describes and summaries general knowledge about production functions and their basics in macroeconomic theory. Produc-tions functions are described from the point of productivity measurement and estimation of potential product. In theoretical part, indicators of productivity and their alternatives are sum up. Practical part is based on estimation of Cobb-Douglas, CES and Sato produc-tion functions by least squares and non-linear least squares method. Results are compared and discussed with similar works in conclusion of thesis.
An Econometric Approach to Efficiency Analysis
Chylíková, Alena ; Pánková, Václava (advisor) ; Bisová, Sára (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the stochastic frontier approach -- a tool for the analysis of technical efficiency. First, general outline, basic terms and approaches to efficiency analysis are overviewed. Also the theoretical background of production functions is involved, focused on the Cobb-Douglas production function. Furthermore, the frontier approach and the stochastic frontier approach for cross-sections data is covered. Based on this, stochastic frontier model with time-varying technical efficiency for panel data is introduced with respect to maximum likelihood estimation. The second part offers an application of the model to assess technical efficiency of ice hockey teams in the NHL for the 1997-2013 period. Output of the production is measured by the winning percentage, inputs are salaries of three categories -- goaltender, defenseman and centers/wingers.
